Most exciting game a Raptors team has played in years. Whatever this team is now, two weeks, in a month, etc. this has just been such an enjoyable stretch. As much as I've been a proponent of tank nation I can't help but cheer for this team and it is awesome to cheer for wins again.

Yup the whole 4th quarter both last night and tonight I was thinking of something they were talking on the BS Report podcast about championship level teams being capable of getting "multiple stops in a row" when it matters. We did that the past two games, and both times we made the margin of a close game look not so close.

Just a phenomenal effort all around. As someone on RealGM said "great D by everyone but Vasquez".

Salmons shows the young guys a thing or two; at 34 he's more than a decade older than Ross and JV, yet he's more active on D than most players in the league, and hounds guys around the court.
-------

I'm starting to get the Casey gameplan. While I still don't think he's a great coach, and makes dumb rotation mistakes time and time again (leaving mismatched bench guys against starters), he seems to subscribe to the Popovich school of not overplaying his starters (see: Mike Brown, Larry Brown, D'Antoni, Don Nelson, etc.) and riding his bench to keep his starters fresh in the 4th.

The problem before the Gay trade was that our bench sucked and we'd routinely let a small lead or a small deficit turn into a big deficit with our overmatched bench out there.

I really like the Hansbrough/Patterson pairing off the bench, as well as Vasquez and Salmons.

I was at the game and you're damn right. Impressive as hell. There were three defence chants in particular that were on another level. I've never been to a playoff game and I think that was a real taste of what they could be like. It was real fun and you know, I think our guys played better on account of it.

I think this is what a winning culture should feel like.

Who says we can't beat those guys four times?

I know, I know, dreaming... I still believe in draft as the only source of a franchise-level talent for Toronto, but man, this was really, really enjoyable.
We don't need to lure a " superstar" here. We need to lure players that are team first guys and fit the personality of the team to join the party. Reputations don't play games. Players do.

If the playoffs started today, the Raps would play the Wiz in the first round and Pacers in the second if they both advanced. Toronto has matched up well against Indy in recent years, makes me wonder how well would they do against them in a 7 game series

as good as Indy is, they're not so good that they're scary to play in the playoffs. I'd much rather play Indy with the best regular season record in the second round than Miami.

Gotta love a winning streak. Now we are challenging the champs in a playoff run and beating the Pacers at will.

Impressive run and the team looks great. Now lets do this for a couple months/years...not a couple weeks.

I was at game one vs the Nets in the first round. The atmosphere was crazy insane and easily better than this game, but the game itself didn't match up. This was the real deal all around.

The thing that will kill Indiana, as it did against Miami last season, is the turnovers.

I don't think a Raptor team has rotated that well defensively since the VC playoff days. Everyone was on a string tonight, and the help defence inside by not only the bigs, but the guards too was so impressive. We cut off every easy opportunity they had inside. There were multiple plays where they got the ball inside, and in watching over the years, 98% of the time you know the opposing team was going to score, but tonight not only did they not score, they didn't even get a shot up because the rotation was there so quickly.

We played championship level defence tonight. That's mindblowing. I can remember at least 5 plays, as stated above, that the rotations were Miami or Indiana esque. West had 2 plays where he spun past his man, and the second big came over so quickly he couldnt even get an opportunity at the rim, had to pass it out late in the shot clock, and there was no room for the perimeter player to shoot either. Incredible stuff.

The only thing I didn't like was late in the game when Ross stole the ball from George, he threw it ahead to Demar, who pulled a Gay and dribbled it 3 times instead of making the easy alley oop or chest pass to JV who was waiting under the rim, and passed it too late. JV got fouled, but Demar had the audacity to call JV out for bringing the ball down, something he rarely does. News flash Demar, if you actually dribbled with your head up and made the easy pass, it would have been an easy 2 points. That pissed me off.

But other then that, that was a great win. We played so smart, we even drove it to the basket every time when we had the penalty in our favor. There was so many good things in this game it was truly a treat to watch.

Ross is by far the player of the game. He out played George, and shut him down. His quickness tonight on both ends was very encouraging.
That play also stands out to me but I think that play is more JV's fault.

Why bring the ball down after the catch? George Hill isn't going to block you. Just go up strong as soon as you catch it and thats an easy two.

I do get what youre saying about Demar though he was a little late with the pass as well but I was moreso concerned about JV bringing the ball down for no apparent reason.

Both guys will learn from that play when Casey puts it on video for them.

That was a safe pass by DD although late. Hill is a smart defender and had DD made that pass early it would've increased the potential of it being intercepted. With that being said he should've given JV a break for that miscue since JV does alot of things for the team throughout the game that no other Raptor can do with the exception of Amir in some cases.
