Sorry, but Orlando at home and are simply just too strong of a team to compete with now. If they don't beat you out in the perimeter, they'll beat you in the post.

I assume Jose will be back and that Andrea will continue at SF. Question is, can Andrea contain Hedo?

Predict and discuss guys.

geesh, i should have waited for you Dr. J. here is my preview.

The Raptors head to Orlando to take on the Magic after beating the Heat Sunday afternoon. The Magic are coming off a win against the Bobcats in a game that saw Dwight Howard score 4 points and collect 7 rebounds in just 26 minutes before fouling out. Hedo Turkoglu lead the team with 20. The Raptors will have to continue the front court pressure to keep Dwight Howard off balance and off his game to take advantage of our front court again. Chris Bosh and Jermaine O'Neal will need to work inside against Howard and Turkoglu as well as Rashard Lewis in the SF position. He is bringing 17 points and 7 rebounds to the floor. Should Sam put Andrea Bargnani at the SF position again, the front lines of both teams will provide us a very entertaining game.

The back-court of the Magic with Jameer Nelson and Mickael Pietris will test our back court of Will Solomon and Anthony Parker as both are quick and love to attack the lane. Should Jose Calderon be available and 100%, then the back-courts should be about even and the game will fall into the hands of our front line. The game could hinge on substitutions and keeping the guys fresh and keeping the Magic off balance on defense as our guys all bring a different intensity and skill set to the floor. With JO averaging 13 points and 9 boards and CB4 averaging 25 and 10 we have the ability to keep most front courts working very hard on defense. The hallmark of Dwight and the Magic is defense with Howard averaging 21 points and 14 rebounds and Hedo adding 17.5 and 5 boards, our guys will have to work together to keep them playing hard at both ends. Howard is averaging 4.5 blocks per game which will hopefully make our guys aware of where he is and keep the ball moving as they did Sunday.

Keys to the game.

First and foremost, we will need the inspired play we got from our bench guys. Jamario Moon will need to play with the intensity he did against the Heat. Jason Kapono brought energy and some smooth shooting to the game. Perhaps neither of these guys should start as they could be great weapons off the bench. If we can get Kris Humphries to provide the same level of play in support of JO and Chris, this team will be able to put Andrea Bargnani at the SF and create havoc on the wing against smaller guys.

To win the game, the Raptors will have to keep Dwight Howard off the glass and out of the game defensively. That means ball movement and moving Jermaine and Chris in and out of the paint all night. This Raptors team loves the high – low game and will need it to work well against this mobile Magic front line. Andrea or Jamario or Jason will have to keep Rashard Lewis from bombing all night. One of the 3 or all of them will need to be in his face when he has the ball challenging him to drive. With our interior guys playing solid defensively, we need to keep him off the arc. Our guards will have to provide the solid play we got from them, as well, they will need to find a way to shut down the solid tandem the Magic provide. The game will give Solomon, Roko Ukic and Anthony Parker the opportunity to show they can be the stoppers defensively. Our guards won't be able to give up the ball so easily as 24 points off of turnovers will kill us against this team, or most teams in this league.

I think that we have the chance of taking both games in Florida and I would love to see the guys keep playing solid team defense. Our offense will take care of itself.

if JO can defend one on one on howard, we should win going away. Their whole strategy revolves around Howard drawing doubles. Of course, keeping hedu in check is a must too, hopefully Bargnani can do that, although hedu is much more clever than beasley and I'm afraid we will see the limitations of playing AB at the 3 in this game.

I actually like the 3 spot matchup of AB on Hedu! i think they are similar in shooting ability, but with the size advantage going to AB i think it would work well. Don't forget that the Magic play Rashard Lewis in the 3 not Hedu. Hedu would be matched up on Bosh in the PF spot with AB on Lewis. i LIKE that matchup as AB would force Lewis off the 3 point line where he ALWAYS seems to kill us!

I agree...Andrea can definately bother Rashard Lewis at the 3 point line with his length...However Rashard is still a bit more quicker then AB, still should make for a good matchup. "Superman" will be superman however with some "kryptonite" from JO (which we were lacking in the playoffz last year) should contain Howard a little more and free up Bosh to do what he does best!!

does anyone think CB4 won't light Hedu up for 35 or 40? i see a huge game coming as they won't be able to rotate DH over without paying the price this time.

I could have sworn I posted this earlier.........

Toronto needs to go again with the big 3 and pond it inside over and over again. Hedo cannot guard Bosh and JO is crafty enough that between the 2 of them will get Howard/hedo into foul trouble. Live at the line in this game at we'll win going away.....

I would love people to try and sit in Sam's seat for a minute. We lose our starting All-star point guard in Jose Calderon, and his back up steps in and goes off for 15 and 11. What else could they ask for? Will Solomon played great to say the least and Roko Ukic and his 4 dimes were great to see.

Andrea Bargnani is asked to play the 3 spot and scores 12. how many games has Jamario Moon started and NOT scored 12 points from the 3? The NBA is about in-game adjustments and that has been the greatest weakness that Sam has shown over the years and every team in the league knows it. Starting Bargs in the SF position will create more headaches for the other teams in this league than it will rotating Kris Humphries in the front line or having Jose sit for a week. This team still has too much talent to flounder for long. Watch as JO and Chris Bosh start going off on every front court in the East. Had anyone stopped Paul Pierce and Tayshaun Prince, those two games would be w's and not l's. Let's see team face our 3 towers and have to out score our guards by 30 or 40 every night to keep up!

Okay... so the Raps have a chance to win this game only if Jo outplays D12. Outplaying him by getting the rebounds and stopping D12 in offense.
Caldy must have a good game. He should exploit Nelson and unlike last year in the playoffs he should outplay him.
Bosh will probably have a good game.
Bargs has to guard Hedo effectively. He cannot let Hedo get by him. And should post Hedo up on offense.
The bench is also a big key. The bench has to come on the floor and provide energy and hustle.
If the Raps can do these things effectively the Raps have a chance to win

alright. this game is big. and should be good.

i wanna see how Bosh and jo handles howard. if they don't contain him then it's over for us.

i see andrea schooling hedo on both ends of the floor.

and finally... if fucking rashard lewis blows up im gonna be so pissed and disappointed with our team... that dude sucks and has been sucking this season. he better not have his "breakout" game this season with us. i swear!

This is a test game for the Raptors. The magic in my honest opinion are a notch above the Raptors in the East. With a close loss to Boston and a horrible loss to the Sixers the Raptors have to have some statement games if they want to make the playoffs and this will be one of them. Position by position you can easily argue that all positions are very close with the exception of Parker and Pietrus. Atlhough Pietrus is younger and more athletic I would only hope Parker should take this matchup. As for the rest of the position with the exception of Bosh and Lewis I'd give the edge to Orlando.

What the Raptors have to do? Do what you do best. SHOOT THE FRIGGIN BALL well. MEMO to JO: In the words of Scott Welland "YOUR HALF THE MAN YOU USED TO BE" (STP - Creep for all you youngins) stop taking 14 shots a game and pass off that post when your doubled up. Also remember that the 4th quarter is for Bosh / Parker and Bargs and not you.

Of course the raps have to do the other things. Don't turn the ball over, play the best D you can and rebound the ball. The one good thing about soloman is that the team is better at the fast break with him so hopefully that also generates some points.

Calderon has a sore Hammy and it usually takes a week to heal so I doubt he is in.

We see usually a good staff will never let a player go out too early. I rather not rush jose and plus:

The Raptors have to learn how to play with injuries. Do you reall think Bosh /Bargs / JO will be healthy all year ... i think not

JO has to know his offense should be more perimeter orientated in this game than normal, scoring in the post against Dwight is a no no and will just lead to blocks.
