Remember a while back we had a thread about how untouchable JV is and i think he's pretty damn untouchable. Having a center who can be a core player like Jonas is just too valuable... and he's only starting to find himself now.
+1

It was great to see JV at 21 take on Chandler at 31 - new beast meets old beast. JV may come close to or equal Chandler's defense but JV's O will put him well past Chandler, and soon imo.

That's a player that should never be touched.

I love JV but I think the best he may be is Noah but as an actual offensive option, and probably not as good defensively.

JV is already better than Noah is on offence, and he's only 21. That notion is bullshit. If JV is able to reach Noahs level defensively combined with his improvement offensively, he'll be better than Marc Gasol.

Its funny because in the first few weeks all the way up to a week after Rudy was traded, Raptor fans were saying JV should be packaged for a 2014 pick, or traded outright to help improve the team.

Just goes to show how stupid a majority of this fanbase is. JV is 21, 7 feet tall, has good feet, is very skilled and fundamentally sound, and fans talk about him like he's already a maxed out 30 year old slow prodding center. It's ridiculous.

+1 absolutely. Marc with some speed? Love it. BC did that one right.

You've seen the posts I'm referring to, don't act oblivious. Raptors fans do this to all of their players.

Just as an example, if you were to go back and read posts in game threads of last season, everyone killed Lowry and talked about how big of a mistake the trade was. Now everyone is praising him because he's had a good stretch of games, and now many want to re-sign him for money he isn't going to be worth. There's numerous examples of this with all of our players over the years, where the fanbase adjusts their opinions on the player and the players outlook based on a stretch of games rather than as a whole or an outlook into what they can do for the team over the course of the season(s).

This fanbase stands by the saying 'what have you done for me lately' and has the most tunnel vision of any fan base outside of NY. I dont even think it's debatable.

Really wasn't anything big - as far as I've seen.

HEHE maybe Chandler didn't like how much better JV is from last year. Anyone remember this? Tyson has been staring JV down since then so JV smiling in his face the last 2 games as he's equalled or bettered Tyson's play has been f'n AWESOME.

You can see in that vid just how far deep JV was which made him ineffective defending the post at times.....so much improvement in such a short time. JV is a special player with his dedication and skill set.

Well said.

When I first came on here the way Bargs was praised, especially by some, was insane. I would remind ppl of his horrid rebounding and help d, that at best he would be a 3rd option or 6th man and people said I was beating a deadhorse and some said how he was an elite talent and a 25-28 and 7-8 type of player.

What's funny is when i turned on him 3-4yrs ago i was ripped by most. I remember when everyone thought he had arrived a couple years ago during that 13 game stretch and i was saying that we should calm down. Most were defendinmg him then too.

I remember things like "what else do you want him to do to prove he's better".

The unfortunate thing is that the asshats who were his most vocal supporters aren't really around anymore. Guess it makes sense... maybe they're on NYK forums now?

I was targeted by about 4 uber-Bargs defenders all the time. 1 changed his tune and wasn't as bad as the others. The other is preoccupied with other matters in his life so comes here sparingly. The other is completely gone. And the other pops up occasionally.

The uber haters should chill (and I'm not saying you guys are) but when a player is coined the 'franchise player' and BC is in charge, I can tell you that you find any hope possible to watch the Raps play - knowing it won't change or worsen - at least I did. I supported Bargs' talent and I still do, problem is he really has no fire and that's a shame.

Now JV makes everything much better

Never rated softies like Bosh and AB.
I had to even make a video to disspell AB's new found D. and it certainly helped to sway some AB fans.
Lowry isn't phased by the calibre of opposition, and it's really important.
