I like that
I think I was suggesting something like this 5 games back or so. I.e. have Amir start off the bench. I think it could have positive impact on both him and GV who would then get to play more pick and roll, which he doesnt get to do so much with PPat and Hayes. But I don't see Casey having balls to change the lineup unless there is an injury or we have extended set of bad games.

And someone suggested to have Hayes play with JVal. That wouldnt work defensively as neither can guard on perimeter. Many teams have PF who would take them of the bounce or shoot threes on them. With Amir it might work.

Also having Amir come of the bench with Psycho-T would be interesting to see. At least we should get some offensive rebounds.

Oh. And great game. Really nice to see them pull one off after losing the lead in fourth and getting to a bad position.

Those technical calls were sad. I dont think anyone of them should have been called and the worst was the "balance it out" call on Lowry in situation where if anything it should have been a double-T (of course refs had no balls to send Pierce out and if they did that would have been horrible from basketball standpoint too).

If we play great and win 2-3 of the next 4 (which is the result one would assume), we might get some separation against the Brooklyn, who will have very tough schedule coming up.

It makes absolutely no sense to move Amir to the bench and Patterson to starting lineup. Why change the dynamic of both the starting lineup and the bench when the team is playing well.

Patterson is flourishing off of the bench in large part because he gets touches and he has the green light to fire away. Moving him to the starting lineup and either he starts becoming more selective or JV doesn't get the touches. Maybe Patterson becomes flat out less productive trying to fit in and going up against the other teams starter's and their initial gameplan. On top of that Amir has shown the ability to neutralize some of the best starting PFs in the game from tip-off to the final buzzer.

Even if Amir took a few games off because of injury, which he probably needs to do, I would rather throw Hansbrough in the starting lineup and keep Patterson off the bench.

The starting lineup isn't playing poorly, the bench isn't playing poorly, and it isn't like doesn't get the minutes or the opportunity to finish games.

I think the major improvment from the move would be to get GV an opportunity to play pick'n'roll. Our offense hasnt lately been that great with the second unit.

And of course that might also get Amir going again. He was great for sometime earlier this season, but hasnt been his energetic self lately. Even if Patterson would get a few touches less playing with first unit, if Amir would instead get those touches in second unit, I think it would be worth it. Amir had one of the best shooting percentages in the league earlier in the season, because he was able to finish a lot from inside. But lately he isnt seeing any opportunities. And Patterson might also not suffer so much as DD/KLow are demanding attention, PPat might get a lot of open jumpers from ball movement, which he is more capable of hitting than Amir.

But I think Casey is thinking more like you. Dont break whats working. Even thought it hasnt really been working perfectly (out of the last ten games we have had three horrible perfomances + a not so great outing against Clippers). If we are afraid to break whats somewhat working, how can we ever try to improve?

Less is more. More or less. But mostly less. Or should that be more?

They just need to slog it out to the All Star break first. Then re-assess if that's needed.

Patterson said he thought he had only tied the game, he didn't realize his shot gave us the lead until after Pierce missed his shot. lol

All it takes for GV to get more time with a dominant PnR player (JV or Amir) is to stagger the rotations a bit. You never need to be running out Hayes AND 2Pat at the same time. Leave a roll guy in there to play with GV, with 2Pat spotting up to draw the help away.

No need to be changing starters, etc. Just share the minutes around rather than doing line changes.

Thats a possibility also. Seeing at Lowry usually plays the whole 1st, I would actually change it so that PPat would replace Amir earlier and Amir could then start 2nd with PPat while JVal rests. We really dont need too much Hayes if there is no foul trouble. Few teams actually sport a really big offensive threat in second unit so PPat Amir line-up in second would probably be ok defensively.

But I think Amir also needs some kind of wake up call. It did work out for him to be moved to bench earlier this season.

Or it might just be some nagging injury in which case he needs rest. That I think might be more probable if TH comes back soon.
