Too busy blabbing on and on about the Dunk contest. Drives me nuts.

He tweets about it constantly now.

Good for him though, excited to watch him.

Thats what I expect from my team, on the cusp of having a slight chance to sniff the off season. Not 3 weeks of worrying about a staged event. Is he young, yes, is it an exciting time for him and a great opportunity, likely. I empathize with what he must be experiencing. That said. From a team perspective, is Ross worth more scoring 12 a game and getting focused for the home stretch...... or averaging 3 a game, and going to the Allstar game to exhaust an already exhausted body and mind?

Most of the guys we need him to beat, or guard in the next 2 months will be at home getting sleep, getting therapy, and recharging their minds.

Let Ross Dunk.

Indiana is convenient for us, that's why we keep beating them, but who else did we beat that's a solid playoff team? Clippers without Paul, Nuggets without Iggy, Galinari, Chandler?
Just facts, wouldn't bet on our win tonight, unless Carmelo is injured

I totally agree.... who cares about trying to up your value right now, you've got three years to do that. Just stop sucking in games, you'll have that value up in no time... besides, he'd do way better next year in it once he's adapted to the grind.

I don't think the dunk competition is affecting his ability on the court.

The guy has only had 14 double digit scoring games out of the 49 he's played in.

He's a rookie, going through the usual rookie motions.

yeah, but he needs to be focusing on his skills, not dunk tricks.... and he's clearly hit a wall, his energy and focus seem to be at a low. That's all that SJ is saying.... the contest is all about media attention.

So if a guy tenets that he working hard to improve his game, his must be one serious mofo then.....

Hmm.... Nope.

Just stating an obvious fact....well, obvious to a few of us anyhow. Did you read my post I wonder? I mean, did you read it all, even the parts that clearly point out empathy for his wanting to be there?

Likely not. I mean I hope not, because anyone who did, and understood the angle, any grown man....likely would reply with a juvenile insult.

But that's just me.... maybe you're just that guy.

Not everyone thinks the Dunk Contest is a big deal bud, some people get that All Star weekend is just a giant cash grab, one that MOST NBA stars secretly wish they could avoid and just take the time to recharge.

wow, overreaction.... we were just discussing it dude. Don't be that guy!

He's clearly struggling, I'd just like to see him not overly focused on a dunk competition in which he is likely to get jobbed in.

Last 10 games for Terrance Ross:

4.8 Ponts
1.4 Rebounds

So I ask you this, as a fan of the team, hell, of the NBA, is this a guy that has earned All Star weekend Status? As a coach, is what dunk your planning in the Contest the reason you want him staying an extra hour after practice when your team is battling for it's playoff life?

Tell, me, as a casual observer of the game, and a fan of the Raps, am I a "baby" because I question the wisdom in Terrance Ross getting caught up in Dunk Contest Hype instead of using his free time during the break to get his shit sorted and his body rested?

"oh cut him some slack"
"oh stop being a baby"
"oh wow, have a some fun and loosen up"

Sure, except this isn't funtime at the YMCA, this is Pro Basketball, and Pro Basketball players are paid to perform under contract to the Franchise that employs them.

You see in real life, this is like the New college grad in the office. Kid shows potential, seem like a good guy, but Family day long weekend is coming.... he is a part of a big campaign that is under a deadline. Everyone on the team is working hard and putting in time, but it looks like a few guys are going to be needed to work saturday to get this done on time so the firm can hit it out of the park next week when the present to the client.... new guy has just been offered free passes for a long weekend Ski trip to Mont Tremblant with his buddy and those two smoking hot bartenders from the club, the one, he really likes.

So what does he do?

Is his Boss or coworkers going to be painted as "Babies" if they feel that even though its a great opportunity, a new employee should really be focusing on his job and putting in his time when he's needed?

One could argue that this is a great experience, he can see all stars, prepare himself for the future and all that BULLSHIT. Or one can say, 4.8 ponts a game and 1.4 rebs isn't getting it done, and if it stays this way, the allstar game really isn't in your future.

So take it how you want it. I know what I feel is the right call. These are the unsaid rules, the things that separate great from ok. Dwayne Casey won't say anything, just as a boss wouldn't. But the decision speaks volumes.... Had Ross turned that down and posted a tweet like Dudley, they would have written articles all over the media about how dedicated he was.

Thats life.
Choose your own adventure.

Tell ya this much....he gets bounced in round one....you will see him realize his mistake immediately, you will see it on his face.

Here's my two cents about Ross-being-out-of-focus situation. Yes dunk contest can be a distraction or a motivation to get better. He will see and feel what its like to be on a center stage...being watched by millions of people...lots of media and all. That would make him strive even more to be a better athlete so he can be in that position (with the Raptors) once again. As a rookie, this is a GREAT learning curve for him. And yes, so is a playoff berth but really with the Gay trade...it's like the management is saying..."take your time, learn, observe, adapt, then improve" Derozan Rookie Stat was 8.6ppg and 2.9 and he started on 65 games. It's like we expect him to be Lillard, Beal, Waiters, etc. (who are getting starters minutes). I say, let him have his rookie experience and let him decide for himself what type of player he will be in the league. It's much better if he realizes it himself rather someone barking at him to be better. He'll get better and he knows it...in Ross we Trust!
