I predict Lowry is back, plays 20min and gets blamed for our 12-15pt loss.

Just a hunch though.

Yeah, heard Kyle should be back.... I'm assuming that JV is going to be out?

We'll be lucky to see JV prior to the all-star break imo.

I am expecting maybe late January-early February. I know that he broke his finger, so hopefully the Raptors medical team can have him back within 4-6 weeks.

It's essentially a broken hand. I'm going to guess 6-8 weeks. It's odd that we don't know yet though

According to Doug Smith, he is visiting a hand specialist. Seeing that they are probably on holiday, we may expect an update either later today or tomorrow.

dude, he has a busted hand, and its likely in a cast. I busted mine he same way...he's 4-6 before he can play, and likely longer before he's 100% Im not sure why people are ignoring this. Its a big deal.

For me anyhow, I only watch for JV and Ross now.

Play with a broken finger? Only in the Finals.
Sprained fingers hurt like hell. Forget playing through injuries, it's silly.

Sprained finger hurts like hell, I only wish that's what he had.

They come stonecold out of gate, are down 10 points at the finish of the first, get back late in the 3rd, only to loose for offense starving in the fourth - 92-109.

Kylie will play limited minutes.

Mo Williams (UTH) busted his finger as well recently and I think they said he'll be out 6 weeks or so... so I'd assume JV will be gone at least a month. Doubt they'll want to rush him back.

We always seem to play well against the Spurs (I saw somewhere that the game earlier this season was one of the most competitive ever given that no team won a quarter by more than 1 point and it went into double OT), and I'm expecting a good effort. JV played well last time around, so hopefully someone can step up and replace his production.

Interesting to see how the Raps come out tonight. We'll really get a glimps as to how effective a head coach Casey really is with this game.

Did he give his guys too long a leash with the four days off? Did the players stuff their faces with shortbread and cookies like we all did over the last few days? Or did Casey crack the whip and hold practices and drilled their azzes off. It's a tough call for any coach with a young team that's on a winning streak.

from someone covering the Spurs -

Spurs Nation Scouting the Raptors

Quote:
The rundown

It defies logic, but the Raptors have somehow won five straight games without two of their top four scorers.

They just lost another key player, rookie big Jonas Valanciunas, and with a three-game road trip looming for one of the league’s worst travelling teams – only Washington and Sacramento have had less success away from home – it’s a decent bet their win streak’s days are numbered.

Point guard Jose Calderon, something of a lightning rod among the Raptors fan base, has been a key factor in the recent resurgence. Thrust into the starting lineup by Kyle Lowry’s injury, he’s averaged 14.2 points and 10.7 assists over the past six games.

Their surge notwithstanding, the Raptors remain in limbo, treading water in a sea of mediocrity.

DeMar DeRozan (18.1 ppg) has performed better than many had expected after signing a large extension before the season started. The Raptors also have a decent young frontcourt corps consisting of Valanciunas and forwards Ed Davis and Amir Johnson.

But Italian center Andrea Bargnani, now injured, is a borderline bust at this point in his career, seven seasons after Toronto took him first in the 2006 draft. And no one else even remotely resembles a franchise player, leaving the Raptors without a map as they try to escape the wilderness of the post-Chris Bosh era.

Injury report

C Andrea Bargnani (elbow), out; PG Kyle Lowry (triceps), out; C Jonas Valanciunas (finger), questionable.

What to watch

* Despite ranking eighth in makes and sixth in attempts, the Raptors are one of the least accurate 3-point shooting teams in the league at 33.9 percent. They also rank in the bottom 10 in defending the 3, a potential disaster against a Spurs team coming off a franchise-record 20 3s in its most recent outing.

* One of the few areas the Raptors excel defensively is against the pick and roll. They are 14th in points per play against roll men and third against ball handlers, according the Synergy Sports. Both facets will be put to the test by the Spurs, who boast one of the better pick-and-roll attacks in the league.

* Davis (7.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg) had struggled to secure consistent playing time before he was forced into a more significant role by Toronto’s injury woes. He was a huge factor in the first meeting with the Spurs, recording 15 points and 14 rebounds – including eight on the offensive end.
