I'll pick Amir. Suprisingly he will totally stop Aldridge and have a monster game with 10-14 shooting and 27 points with 13 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Raps win as the Portland cant hit anything from behind the arch.

First full season (assuming he's healthy from here on out) and up until the trade, played on a team where he wasn't an option offensively.

His double doubles this year compared to last tell the story, guy has improved.

In years past, I'd say this is an easy loss. But with this group? I can not rule them out of any game.

I do not know how to start refuting this accusation which seems pretty solid. Bear this in mind, if we hired a special coach - center - to guide JV and teach him, the way it happened with DH, A Bynum and others, it would have been totally different.
JV is learning through games only, so, it might take him longer time to reach his peak. I expect him to be totally different by the end of this season.

I believe in this kid, he is really talented and very balanced in terms of skills, BUT in this team, he is not even a third option.

Here we go again, seems Jonas always gets a pass from Raptors fans.

I'm not saying JV wont be a good player or that he hasn't improved, I'm just saying he hasn't impressed me. His improvements have been minor, and his double doubles are mostly a result of him being an active big thats getting major minutes.

He has tons of potential but his game so far this year, and his improvement, leaves much to be desired.

I do agree with you that if we hired a special coach for him it would most likely help him tons.

As for him not being a main offensive option on this team, he simply isn't skilled enough yet offensively. His jumpshot somehow got worse from his rookie season, and his pump fake seems to be his only weapon which defenses now are preparing for because it has become so predictable.

I do not see any problems with his jumpshot. On the other hand, for him to be a main offensive option with a team that contains two players like KL and Derozan, it would be really hard. Another thing - with my all respect to KL - KL is not the kind of a playmaker who would help a guy like JV to flourish, if we have a classic PG like Mark Jackson, or Kidd or A Miller, you would have seen JV as a star.

He may not have the profile of a Hakeem of Ewing, but Bill Bayno, who works with Jonas now, comes highly regarded. He's credited with helping to develop Zach Randolph and Aldrigde during his time in Portland, and Love and Pek with the Wolves.

Lowry is a great play maker for JV, but JV's issue is his conditioning and not being able to run the floor quickly enough to seal his man in the paint to get easy buckets off the opposing teams turnovers. He should also attempt to seal his man early in the offense and demand the ball, something which again he hardly does.

He's still young and developing which I understand, but this stuff is basketball 101. You don't need a big man coach to teach you this.

Lowry has ran a good few pick and rolls with JV throughout many of the games, but it's not his problem if JV is not finishing strong by either missing or turning it over.

Also, I would like to point out that Lowry is currently 7th in the league for averaging 7.6 assists per game, so you can't say he doesn't have the play making skills to help JV flourish.

Don't forget JV has had plenty of help from Sabonis too, so it's not like he hasn't had big man coaching before.

You are such a pessimist

Amir has had great games before, but has been quiet lately. He is due for monster game. And it wouldnt be as suprising as lets say Ross scoring 51.

These "Open Gym" episodes are the best thing Blackberry has made in years.

JV is only 21. Most bigs take a few trips around the block before they find their game. His post trade stats are impressive, the system with Rudy was poisoning his game.

Pre-trade (including Lakers game)
PPG: 8.3
RPG: 7.6

Post-trade
PPG: 12
RPG: 9.8

Amir is a pretty consistent guy, he's been consistently unimpressive for the last weeks, so there's a huge possibility he'll continue with his lack of impressiveness tonight defending LMA which will lead to 19 minutes, 2 points, 3 rebounds. I have Amir in my fantasy team all year and such prediction hurts me too. I think it's because of that being friends with Drake thing. It's overwhelming.
Nevertheless, it should be a close game, despite the fact we're on a B2B. Close lose will be as impressive for me as the last night's win against Denver.

Really - ppg and rpg?

Overall (/game, %ages and advanced stats) - he is doing worse this season than last season.

Those nonsense advanced stats don't concern me. I watch the games, I see him play. I don't need win shares or total shooting percentage to tell me how well someone is playing. He's coming along.
