SO...With only 2 games in the NBA Sunday, of course they made our game a 1PM start (Mavs vs Spurs on at 3:30)...why you ask? -->

Raptors 1-6 on afternoon games

lankganglia 05-03-2014 02:28 PM

i figured when POR won we might be playing later...but meh BK also has to play early

omar36 05-03-2014 02:32 PM

If Portland lost, we would be at 8pm. Honestly, raptors should still be prepared, this game is the most important in this season. They only had 1 day rest so we should have some advantage. Also, I don't Carr how bad fields may be injured, just play him Casey

Because Amir is playing like shit in the afternoon :cookie:

I don't buy that crap , it's up to them if Raps wanna look for excuses than might as well pack the bags and get those fishing rods out.
There is no time for that, it is game 7 of the series a chance to make statement and show everybody in the nba that we are not the team to fuck with (especially after Brooklyn tanked their way to us). So if that and the fact that they are playing at home with the most amazing fans having their backs is not enough to come out guns blazing, than I don't know what is.

I dont want to be a negative nancy but I have lost all faith, and im gon assume that they are gonna lose the game. Its pretty typical for toronto teams to blow leads. I love this team but I can't handle the chest pains and emotional distraught that would occur if I were to fully engage myself while watching the game. I'll still be upset if they lose. Hats off to all of you guys that still have faith and are going to believe to the end.

It would be pretty remarkable if this team had went on to win three games in a row against this Nets team. There's no reason to have absolutely no faith in these guys. They've proven all season long that as soon as you write them off, they're coming for your head.

About the 1pm start. If anything, it's an advantage for our young guys. Also, the Raptors franchise since day one has played early afternoon Sunday games. I remember going to countless 12:30 pm games during the early years. No excuses there, they should be used to these games by now.

We're going to really need a big game from most of our guys to pull it off, but we're by no means done. :therock::therock:

That is the point of being a sports fan and a fan of a team. The high and lows. Not trying to be mean, but that is a terrible attitude to have.

"I'm not going to be pumped up for a game 7 because if we lose it is going to hurt more if I believe we can win. SO I'm just going to assume we will lose"

Not cool. Game 7 are special. This is what is great about sports. This is where you want your team to be at. This is the best position, win or go home. Best feeling. This is when you should be cheering the most and excited/nervous.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 05-03-2014 03:32 PM

The 1PM is a excuse like LOG said. Both teams have to play at this time.

It would be different if this game was at 1PM Eastern time and Toronto was a Western time zone team and Nets were Eastern time zone. THen you could make that excuse.

But they're both Eastern time zone. No difference. I think it helps Toronto more getting back on the court sooner. They're motivated to make up from last game. Don't want to sit and wait. Nets are older, KG played a lot last game & D-Will was banged up. Get them back on the court.

But in the end, the adrenaline of both teams will get them going. This is game 7. These teams don't care if it is 1PM, 4PM, 8PM, etc. It is do or die and both teams will be ready at 1PM.

I don't believe the league looked up our record and said raptors get that time then. That's bullshit.

That being said, with only two games on sunday...... why the fuck start so early? Why not have a mid to late afternoon game and one primetime game? I just don't get it.

ABC Sunday Doubleheaders are always slotted for 1pm followed by a 330pm game.

LX 05-03-2014 04:01 PM

yeah - there's no early game today. ABC only had the one game last sunday. Who knows - there could be something going on at or around the stadium that was being accommodated.

I've never understood it at all.

I think Blatche guaranteeing a victory is the true kiss of death.

Adande: Nets. Speaking of energy and urgency, the Raptors didn't bring any to their closeout game Friday night. It didn't dawn on them that they were really in the early stages of Game 7. Now it might be too late for them. The Nets have new life and their veterans seem poised to strike.

Elhassan: Nets. $180 million might not buy you a championship, or even anything past a second-round knockout, but it might be enough to get you a Game 7 first-round victory. The collective experience of Brooklyn, along with the relative inexperience of Toronto, will be the margin of victory in another very, very close matchup.

Haberstroh: Raptors. This one is a coin flip on a neutral floor, but the Air Canada Centre is going to be roofless by the end of this one. If Kyle Lowry leads the Raptors to victory once again, can we just retroactively give him an All-Star spot? Adam Silver, make it happen.

Shelburne: Nets. I always opt for experience in a Game 7 and the Nets -- or the dinosaurs as they're called in Toronto -- have that in spades. Kevin Garnett could retire after this season. It's no sure thing Paul Pierce returns either. No, this is not how they go out just yet.

Strauss: Nets. I'm counting on Brooklyn's veterans to handle a road Game 7 better than the young Raptors handle a home Game 7. Perhaps this is outdated thinking, just like the notion that the Toronto Raptors can't possibly make a deep playoff run in our lifetimes.

I get expecting the worst luck all the time given our history and all. But I just saw a thread on RealGm that asks for posters views on the worst scenario's in which we could lose game 7.
