Well, in theory it should be....however...in practice, what will actually happen remains to be seen.

I think people, myself included, have been saying the East will be stronger since the summer of 2010, when the Wiz, Philly, and the Nets had high lottos and cap space, yet it never really gets that much better. If one team improves, another slips a bit for some reason, either due to injury, bad trade, or a busted pick. It's just never ligned up so that the East catches up to the West the way it should.

Having said that, I think a few of this year's playoff teams SHOULD be better next year, like Chicago with Rose back, Washington getting better through internal improvement of Wall and Beal, and Atlanta getting Horford back. However, I could also see Indiana slip a bit and become less beastly, and I could see the Nets slip a bit just due to age. Overall, the top 6-7 should be stronger.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Raps are a better team next year, win the same amount of games, yet fall to the 4-6 seed, simply because Washington, Atlanta and/or Chicago are better. Overall, I think the conference will still suck quite a bit.

Special shoutout to John Salmons.

John Salmons achieved a playoff PER of 3.1 and shot 28.6%. A PER of 15 and approximately ~44% is considered league average.

Playoff John Salmons managed to outdo Regular Season John Salmons in this respect, who posted a 7.6 PER and shot a scintillating 36%.

We constantly blame salmons for playing like shit, but Casey is the dude in charge that keeps him in the game. He did the same shit with Anderson last year. Try and count the amount of times this board was questioning y fields wasn't in the game during the series. Boneheaded coaching if u ask me

A good SF that plays D off the bench should make this a way better team next year. Salmons is done I think.

Oh, I totally blame the coach for continuing to play him even when it was clear he was horrible even in the regular season; but it became inexcusable when Fields played ~20min in Game 2 and did very well.

That's why I'm very iffy on Casey's return.

If anything, that was Lowry. Though i would not go that far. You want to send away a 20+ point guy that is showing a nice overall understanding of the game for draft picks? Are you talking top 3 in the draft, because anything less is just nutty. He's not a guy you send packing.
I didn't mean this game in general, just the series and games leading up to the playoffs. I still see some bright spots in his game if he can play better D and pass the ball more often ( once again in general not talking about this game). Hopefully we see some improvements in those areas. I feel like JV and Ross can be better players than he is and I just don't want them to have to take a backseat because he is the 'allstar' and 'franchise' guy right now

Nice year, good game. fuck brooklyn.
nah, don't feel like that - they have, at best, one more good season in then and then it's siberia for the next decade. They are fucked with a capital F. No cap space, no picks, nothing. They could easily miss the playoffs next season (in fact it's very likely they will).

I still think the biggest blunder in the game was when Lowry went to draw a charge and got called for blocking and then the exact play after that demar drives and gets called for a charge instead of getting a blocking call. Basically two similar or exactly the same type of plays and both went against the Raptors.

I actually stood up and cheered at the 2nd one because I was dead sure the call was going our way. It was unbelievably bad.

Now I can get back to killing Demar and Casey for them being awful at their jobs.

Demar should be ashamed at how bad Johnson owned him. His effort on D was awful all series, but really came to the forefront today. There were at least 3-5 loose balls, or passes in his vicinity that he could have corralled but instead he chose the easy route to just lay back and let the Nets player get the ball. And his defence on Johnson? Its the definition of the word soft in sports.

Casey? Didn't make an adjustment that worked all series on Johnson. Johnson isn't Lebron, he shouldn't be this hard to guard THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME. He either gave him the exact same double team looks with our weak, unprepared rotations where it wasn't even a hard double team and gave Johnson an easy pass to the corner or under the rim to KG, or else he'd just let him go 1 on 1 and dribble his way into a 5 foot hook shot. His defensive schemes vs essentially their only offence was pathetic.

I can't stand the way Derozan gets his points, it's such an inefficient way to score, he kills the rhythm of the offence, and he never makes the easy, quick pass out of traps or hard hedges. He's the reason JV was taken out of this series offensively with his selfish play.

Get rid of them both.
what a terrible post.

awesome season, played our hearts out against a team with the preferable matchups to us, fixed and adjusted the majority of the time to things we were doing wrong (eg TOs,) but so did they, with a team FULL of savvy veterans. They played damn near perfect ball in that game and we lost by 1.

the second we lose, BANG, raps are shit, our all-star is shit, our coach is shit. shame on you man.

bit of an emotional response, but i've just finished watching the game here in the UK. fucking proud of my team.

DD needs to improve some areas, we could have a better coach than casey, but fuck sake man, both were far from terrible in this series. Did well.

Still shaken after the loss. But with all the emotions from the game subdued, I can say that this was one of the great testimonies of how good the Raptors became, practically overnight. This was only the second season that I have been cheering for the Raptors, and personally, I would take this kind of season any day. Just to see the forum moods switching from tanking in November to Playoffs in April was surreal.

Thank you Raptors.
Thank you Raptors forum.

Haven't read this entire thread so maybe this has already been stated but I just read that we've played the Nets 11 times this year with a final cumulative score of 1070 - 1070. Pretty wild.

JV was awful - needs to get faster next year.

Loved seeing the emotion from Ross - needs to show that emotion every game next year.

Lowry and Amir were both just too banged up and worn down to win the series. It was a bit disappointing that we didn't play a full 48, it felt like every time we were going to make a run, somebody wouldn't box-out.

Joe Johnson was really really good.
