The nets pooped away a 22 point lead in a hurry. Back to back ot games. Maybe they will start to let a few games get away from them due to fatigue.

would make no difference if we can't hold off chicago though, except in the home-court scenario, which, granted, is pretty important.

but honestly, I'd rather play the wizards away from home than BKN or Chicago at home. Those two defenses really scare me, because our offense is not good enough to overpower it.

And between chicago and BKN, I'd still pick chicago - BKN was my pick to win it all this year and, while not prepared to go all the way, I still think they will win the east if KG can stay healthy in the playoffs. They've given Miami plenty of trouble in Boston, even in recent years when they had a truly shitty team beyond rondo.

That's a stretch. IMO they're a second round exit at best, certainly can't see them getting to the finals

Lol Brooklyn winning the East. The absolute most we can expect from them is losing in 7 in the 2nd round to Indy or Miami.

did you see Boston in 2011/2012 taking Miami to 7 games in the conference final? If no, then maybe you should reconsider ... Miami ALWAYS struggled against KG/PP, and the nets are one of the best equipped teams to handle Miami without going big (like Indiana). They have a ton of excellent defenders and everybody can shoot the 3, which is critical against Miami. Including pre-season, I think they are 4-0 or something like that against them, they even won early in the season when they were playing like shit.

They would struggle against Indiana and probably Chicago, but against Miami, I think they're the ideal team. It's funny that Miami is trying hard to build-up oden anticipating a showdown with Indiana ...

Boston? I thought we were talking about Brooklyn? KG is not going to last a long playoff run imo. Brooklyn is no Boston, not coaching wise or depth wise. No way Brooklyn gets by the second round let alone get through to the finals.

the past 2 seasons in boston, their team outside the big 3 was pretty shitty, bkn has a much, much better supporting cast and deron is comparable with rondo - I'd say he's a much better option against miami in particular. You need to be able to hurt miami from deep, because you're not getting anything inside, not unless you have hibbert or some other behemoth. From outside though, they're vulnerable to a team that executes well.

as far as coaching, don't dismiss the kidd - they've turned things around quite nicely and he's a super smart guy. Surely a rookie kidd can match a rookie spoelstra, no?

Health is the major risk, but the thing is they will probably play miami in the 2nd round, so we're looking at 6 or so games in the playoffs until they face each other. Going all the way may be too much for that old crew, but the first 2-3 rounds they should have enough in the tank. Especially KG who played minimal minutes this season.

Default My silly bet

Lowry to the Knicks gaining heat again?

Quote:
My argument was about whether the record since the trade is reflective of the team's talent level. So the over under I proposed wasn't out of nowhere - 19.5 of 31 games is .636, so I take the under on 19.5, considering I do not think that record means much, considering the play we've seen of late.
JoeyJoJoShabbadu and I agreed to a gentlemen's bet where he took the over and I the under.

The team has played well enough to make Joey look pretty good. But they've been playing badly enough recently to make me think I might unfortunately still have a chance of being right.

I predicted 19-12 or worse to end the season, putting the team's final record at 46-36 at best. They've gone 12-7 since, meaning they only have to go 8-4 over this next stretch to put egg on my face (mmm, eggs). That means losing the 3 games against top teams, plus TWO losses against weaker teams for the bet to go "my" way. Hopefully the team can pull it together and close out the season to go strong into the playoffs.

Nice night. Raptors with 2 fewer losses than Nets.

The nets with another OT. They might be going through a slog for a bit now.

At this point, with this schedule, the division is their's to lose. CHI will be a much bigger question.

If we can get through next week with at least a 2 game lead it should be ours. Those three games next week are huge.

With the way Miami and Indiana have been performing lately, I think we have a legit shot at winning one out of those two games. Hopefully the Indy one so the Heat get 1st seed. If Dwight doesn't play, I also think we have a great shot against the Rockets. And even if he does, we have played them pretty close the last two years.

our lead on BKN is, for all intents and purposes, 3 games. We only need to win 2 more games again Bos/Phi/NY/NY to guarantee we win the tie-breaker with BKN.

I think as division winners, we would also get a guaranteed tie-break win against Chicago (otherwise we lose it -they have better conf record).

So if we tie with Chicago or BKN, we get the best seed.

we just have to keep it together the next 2-3 weeks, win the winnable games, and we'll be ok. No more cleveland mishaps, we got lucky BKN lost their own winnable game.

um, to make up 3 games with 11 to play is VERY hard.

the miami game would be the 5th in 7 nights and a B2B at that. So no, no win against miami.

The Rockets is a much safer bet and, to some extent, Indiana.
