Finally got to watch the game...

If these first two games are any indication of what's to come this season, both coach and Gay will be gone before the trade deadline. We have quite possibly the worst-run offense in the league, predicated on the iso plays beyond any reason. And Gay's decision-making has not improved any more than his shooting accuracy.

is my only contribution to what I watched at the ACC. Not impressed, and yes I do remember its preseason and they're trying out shit. Guys still come to play, maybe not 100% but close.

i haven't convince that this years's roster will much more competitive than last year given the factor that all other teams in eastern are much more improved(exclude Boston and Sixers)

our Front line is thin which only have 3 rotations(Amir,JV and TH)

our wing is un-efficient which will waste too much offence flow

our PG is a one-man show which none of the back-up can step up(both backup PG are one dimensional)

and our coach.............................

Good, if we're around what we were last year (after the trade, since that's our current starting 5) we're a playoff team. Let's hope!

Hard to come up with solid impressions from a game in which Amir is taking 3 pointers and our bench plays vs. their bench for the 4th quarter. With that said, I liked a lot of what I saw, and was seriously underwhelmed by a few players.

Our starting lineup is definitely a W.A.R.P. or +/- darling team. I like the unit, they've got a good mix of O and D. A bit overmatched against very talented teams, but a unit that works hard.

Player impressions:

-Jonas & Demar are both clearly superior players to last year. DeMar is doing way more things off the dribble, it's like he finally is starting to play like a 2 guard and not like a small forward (not named LeBron, who does PG like things). Jonas is a more agressive, more confident version of his rookie self.

-Lowry is still an enigma to me. Will he be more like the player we saw in the first 3 games last season, or the rest of last season?

-I'm very impressed by Hansbrough. Just does all of the tough guy things: rebounds in traffic on both sides, takes a pounding, does fantastic garbage guy things. Great signing.

-Novak for Bargnani is a net positive for us. Novak just plays within himself and doesn't try to do stuff he's not good at. Put him out there for 10-20 mins a game for heat checking and sit him if he's not raining 3's. You need guys who can hit 3's and guys who can play D in today's NBA. Novak is an elite 3 point shooter.

-Gay looks terrible. Like he's pressing again just like last season. His shot looks bad. He hustles and makes OK plays most of the time but he's still off a bit. Hopefully that sorts itself out. I'd rather that Gay, who's otherwise a proven player, plays shitty in the preseason than some of our young guys who have to still prove themselves though. It's understandable if Gay half asses it in the preseason.

-IMO DJ Augustin will beat out Buycks for the backup PG spot because Augustin is a better distributor and teammate facilitator. Which is a shame, because otherwise Buycks is like 4" taller and potentially a better defender.

-Terence Ross is a disappointment IMO. He's got the entitlement mentality (remember the article earlier where he said he wants more minutes), but his shot is as spotty as Rudy Gay. Imagine our rotation with Drummond instead of Ross. Always go for BPA!! He's still young, but the FG% is ugly. His best case scenario for his career is Mo Pete, and that's really the absolute best case.

-Landry Fields is still crap. He's a worse defender then I remember in NY.

All in all, I think this year's team should be much more watchable than last year's team, unless we trade Gay for picks and tank or something. We are a middle of the pack team that can compete nightly, and hopefully Jonas keeps developing at a rapid pace. We are quite young. It's a baby step forward from last season, with way less salary dead weight.

um, which do you think is more relevant, a 3 games sample or a 65 games sample?

with casey coaching, there is no way lowry will ever be close to his potential. Our offense is extremely painful to watch, there is basically no logic to what we're doing out there. I honestly think the team would play just as well if there was absolutely no time dedicated to offense in practice ....

and for god's sakes, let's hire a shooting coach or something.

It's not Casey's fault. Lowry had issues with coaches in the past, however I like what I see from him so far.
