Nice to see we can win when nobody cares about playing defense for 3 quarters. DD and Kyle kept us afloat offensively - although both were pylons - but the big fellas work on the boards secured the win.

Weird game. Terrible early, obviously. DD was great offensively through 3, 29 points on 14 shots - then the 4th starts and he jacks and misses 5 long twos (one of which was end of clock, not his fault). And during that span the Raps grab like 9 offensive rebounds and make a huge run on the back of a brilliant defensive display. Just strange to watch.

Amazed that they won this game.

any sweep is good, but adding okc would make this list crazy impressive

I was happy with the fight instinct that kicked in late in the 2nd half ... De Colo had something to do with that ... he is a physical guard and created some havoc on both ends. I credit him for start the push, but clearly the rest of the guys came thru ...

Strong 4th quarter ...

Impressive.

However, it bothers me that they can do that but then get stupid losses against LAL, BOS, ATL, etc. Shows that this team still needs to get to that further step. If this team were to get 57-61 wins next year, assuming a 47-50 win season this year - that'd be a great step.

Take a look at some of the teams OKC/Indy/Miami have lost to. Shit happens

Agreed, there is no 'step' which involves winning against EVERY team you're supposed to beat. We won against teams we weren't supposed to win, and we lost to teams we aren't supposed to. That's just how it works for everyone.

Yeah, to me, even watching this game, and certainly the last few, this team isn't that far from being where Cleveland is. I don't take that to mean the over-achieving is fool's gold. Not in the least. To me it shows how good the organisation has become from top to bottom, and how well everyone has bought into the whole program. And as you suggest, it makes it easy to imagine them being able to build on it.

There is a cohesiveness and recognition of how every guy needs to contribute and accept roles that is as significant as anything else in succeeding in this league. Without the promotional emphasis and hype around stars it might be clear to most that it is the standout requirement for contending. That is what i love about all the guys on this team. As much as some may want to suggest that DeMar has a big head, he knows exactly how this team is succeeding and will succeed. Kyle has tailored his own competitive spirit to better suit the needs of the team himself. Amir has always gotten that aspect - likely seeing how important it was in Detroit. The game comes before all of them, and that doesn't happen with a lot of young teams, or some older teams.

And the beauty is that it makes it easier to tweak the roster and gain big improvements as new guys get incorporated into the system so much easier than if everything revolved around one or two guys specifically.

While true but if this team makes another "jump" next year then those losses have to be few and far between.

I think its more notable that the last game we have played against each eastern playoffs team we have lost. We lost to all our likely playoff competitors during last two-three weeks while in the middle winning some decent games against western teams. We have also lost the latest against Atlanta and Bobcats (I think). And of course Miami and Indiana.

That doesnt bode well for us.

60 wins next year? Let's calm down guys. That's a level of success reserved for the teams where every game, no matter who they're facing, they're the favorite to win. The truly elite teams of the league. Barring notable change, we won't be there, and there's nothing wrong with that as its extremely difficult to get there.

60 wins in a season would be crazy, let's get lowry resigned first, and then get lucky in the draft with our pick, and MU somehow manages to trade for another first without giving up anything significant, and...

I'm going to be happy if we truly continue to develop a culture of effort ... intensity ... team ball .... defense ...
We need to keep in mind that we have gone from being CRAP to playing some strong team ball ... lets not expect miracles ... we are only at the beginning of turning around our franchise.

Yeah, 60 is crazy. If we can post 50 wins next year, that would be great progress (as the conference will probably be a little stiffer competition). At that point we'd be real threats in free agency that summer, having consecutive 50 (or close to it) win seasons, and huge cap space, with the centerpieces locked up.

I wasn't really paying attention to the 60+ number. For me, i think a team that can look to win 50+ for close to a decade is not out of the realm of possibility, and would be terrific. And it would likely be easier than it was getting to where they are looking at 50 this season. And the playoffs will ultimate mean much more relative to the regular season in future years. To me that's what a realistic jump can bring.
