We win this one only if the Grizzlies have a cold cold shootin night and we have a hot hot shooting night. I don't like how we match up with them one bit.

I actually think the Raptors match up well against Memphis. Their frontline is good, but it's not overly athletic, thus allowing JV, TH, and Hayes to be on the floor more. The Raps have an advantage in the backcourt.

For the Raps to win, though, they'll need the bench to produce more than they did yesterday.

I don't think its athleticism that is of worry. It's the skill of the bigs. Gasol is a defensive player of the year and could really dominate JV in the post on both ends of the court. Z-Bo's offensive skills could be a matchup problem and I think they're all better rebounders than we are which is our biggest issue right now.

We need to have a good shooting night, especially from 3. It doesn't have to be lights out shooting but it has to be one of those closer to 50% shooting nights.

The way the team performed against Detroit - one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA and the highest-scoring half-court team in the league - bolds well for the club. The team also did well against Minnesota's bigs, especially in the 2nd half.

What concerns me more is to see if the Raps can win a grind-it-out, physical game.

This will surely be a tough game, against a strong defensive team in Memphis. Obviously hoping for a win, but I think this game we might come up a bit short. Prediction is 97-94 for a Memphis W. Hope I'm wrong

Detroit was on a second night of back to back, so that helped. Not taking credit from our guys, but it was obvious the Pistons did not have enough energy for the game last night.

Memphis is physical, they have size, play good D, play as a team and have solid players on all positions. I'm just worried that our bigs will have so much trouble with Z-Bo and Gasol while their back court has enough power to cancel our backcourt. Tony Allen will make DD work for every basket, Prince can match Terence, Conley can match Kyle.

The one advantage we have is the outside shooting and so much will depend on it. We need to have a good shooting night, our backcourt has to really outplay their and our bigs at least need to make their work really hard.

If we win this, it will be the biggest win of the season IMO. Memphis is playing better and better and are such a well built team that nobody in the west wants to see them in play-offs in the first round.

Absolutely the Grizzlies are a good team, a very good one in fact. I just think the two teams match up very well.

What's surprising is that the Grizzlies are not a very good rebounding team. They're in the bottom half of the NBA.

I think their stats are might be skewed as Gasol missed a lot of games with injury. If you look at their rebounding %, they are 6th in the league.

imo, we'll get killed - horrible matchup for us. Their D will suffocate us (conley and allen should have no troubles keeping lowry/demar in check - they don't need to shut them off completely, just keep them below average). Normally, they struggle to score, but against us, that shouldn't be a problem, gasol and randolph will beast us, unless both JV and Amir come out big, which is so rarely the case.

We'll lose by 10+.

Yeah, as moremilk said, they're one of the worst matchups in the NBA for us with their perimeter defence, and I dont see us winning this game either. We're going to have to play at a near elite level and catch a few breaks offensively to win this one. Someone unexpected needs to step up big and hit shots.

Lowry should be able to have a slight edge over Conley, same goes for derozan. Although both will be workin hard. Ross should dominate prince, although those to edges and the one advantage does not seem big enough to compare to their domination in the front court. If our bench doesn't step up, the margin won't be matched and it will come out a loss.

The over/under thread is up and running. Round 4 is just starting so it's a good time for anyone wanting to get in at the beginning.

the problem is, with PP out, lowry/ross/demar need to carry the offense, and that's just not going to happen against memphis. Even if they get hot, you can bet that they'll have to work very hard for every point.

So unless JV/Amir can play Zbo/Gasol to a draw, we're not winning. They did pretty well in the first game, so it's not impossible, but it will be hard.

If we can come out 1-1 after the weekend, I'll consider that a good outcome.

Dude, you gotta be careful how you read stats. Gotta pick the right ones. Some of them are useless because they provide no context.

Grizz are 21st in total rebounds. So what? Maybe they're aren't as many shots being put up in their games because they're the slowest paced team in the league? They're FIRST in holding their opponents to the fewest rebounds....

....which leads to....

Both teams are fairly slowed paced (us 24th, Grizz 30th) so possessions will be valuable.

Hiting a bunch of 3s could really help us under those circumstances. Also, gotta make sure we don't get killed on our boards, obviously. Offensive rebounds are extra valuable in a slower game, so if the Grizz get a bunch, we're dead.

Only 5 days so far. Raps stated he should be out between 7-10, but who knows. He may come back earlier or it may take longer for the injury to heal. Have to wait and see.
