The optimists don't seem to be watching the same last 5 games as me. After the trade there was a rise in intensity with guys trying to prove they deserve playing time and/or deserve to be starters. But now that intensity is mostly gone and key members of the bench are injured. I'm not a tanker but I can easily see how the last 5 games are evidence of a team that still needs a lot of work.

I think it's the complete polar opposite, the pessimists did not seem to be watching the last 10 games before that... We are good and growing, the team is not going to win every single night, but at least were giving ourselves the opportunity almost every single night...

Pretty inexcusable loss. Up comfortably for most of the day and piss it away when the game starts to matter. They already used their get-out-of-jail-free card on the Celtics, they should know not to take bad teams lightly. Gotta come out hard today and stomp on the Bobcats to gain a little moment going into the All-Star break.

That's been Casey's message in all his post game comments. Sample size is still too small, which is why MU is still in evaluation mode.

Most disappointing to me was DeMar's play particularly in the 4th quarter. The hero ball he tried to play yesterday in the 4th Q unfortunately has been par for the course recently, but it's magnified now because of how horrible yesterday's loss was. His shot selection astonishes me at times, I honestly can't believe how poor some of his decisions are on that front.

What didn't help yesterday in the 4th was that despite playing well defensively, Hayes was often hiding on the offensive end when his man was shadowing Demar. Despite seeing multiple defenders there also wasn't a teammate calling for the ball. The whole team lacked cohesion down the stretch - and in the end the blame should be with Demar - he needs to talk more and be more aggresive getting the ball to the rim.

To me the most disappointing aspect of that game was without a doubt the entire teams complacency when they twice went out to big leads, once in the first half and then in the third quarter. The fourth quarter shouldn't have even mattered.

I was a couple bevvies in by the 4th Q so didn't pick up on Hayes clogging things up for DeMar. Generally though it frustrates me seeing DeMar settle for jumpshots in double coverage when he has a) shown the ability to make good passes to set guys up and b) get to the rim relatively easily and be effective there. Does the 4th Q contested jumpshot give you more points than a vanilla layup? Not the last time I checked...maybe DeMar is trying to channel his idol a little too much.

Derozan has gone back to his old ways of being a COMPLETE bonehead at the end of games. What the F was that, two games in a row his coconut head took over and it was Demar vs 5 guys and it seemed all the 5 guys on the other team and 4 guys on our team ALL knew what bozo was going to do. Put his head down and take a stupid shot after a few ridiculous dribbles! Aaaaah I thought he got over this bull instead it's the same old crap at the end of games!! Such a frustrating way to lose. If he keeps this crap up the chemistry will be destroyed. By the end of the game I was muttering "trade this guy!" He frustrates the living hell out of me, every time it looks like he's turning a corner he goes back to losing us games with his super hero stunts. All-Star my arse.

don't know man, he was double teamed the whole game and handled it pretty well. Maybe he feels that he's supposed to take over in crunch time or something. For me, this is more on casey than on demar (same way I felt about rudy). The coach can always call a timeout if players don't do what he asks, so I have to assume he's drawing it like this.

there were a couple times out of timeouts where demar settled for a long 2. I dunno, as much as Casey isn't an Xs and Os type of coach there's no way he hasn't drawn up a better play than that. I don't disagree with you though, I think Casey needs to rein in DeMar to some extent.

it's clearly on Casey when iso plays for Demar are drawn up virtually every timeout late in the game. Demar has his shot selection issues, always have, they never stopped, but Casey loves iso ball. Old habits die hard.

The Hayes thing might have been part of it, but it's been a problem all year long for DD.

DD shoots 33% in 4th quarters this year. 12% on 3's. Draws 2.2 FTA and takes 4.3 FGA. He's taken 87 midrange jumpers in 4th quarters this year versus 50 shots in the paint. Add in the 25 3 pointers he's taken (at a 12% clip) and the jump shot versus paint shot ratio is pretty skewed (2.25 jumpers for every opportunity in the paint).
