You guys are fanatics.

Can't say anything bad about a guy without you plugs going apeshit.

The scout, ya he was SCOUTING, from what he saw, he thought Roko was shitty, So Feschuk is a douche for reporting what he was told???

So he's a douche for pointing out the obvious, and saying his Jumper was horrid???

I'm sorry boys, you are reading that artical poorly, it's a fair artical, and it crosses no lines, it also compliments a guy who, aside from one or two games, ahs been anything but good so far.

Get a fucking grip
Second time in a year I have to agree with SJ.

I like Feschuk. Better than Doug The Spectacle Wearing Dildo.

the point is that feschuk is a douche for raining on everyones parade. they get excited about the prospects of a young player stepping up and in-comes superstar writer swinging his one-trick pony pen pissing people off.

Really? He was awful the first few games? I thought he played pretty well for a rookie from Europe. I might be biased but I'm a huge Roko fan. He is going to make this guy eat his words.

Fun Facts

Roko's jumpshot is brutal.
Roko has some nice parts to his game.
The article was unnecessarily negative.
Feschuk is a penis.

Obviously he doesn't have much respect for Ukic. Ukic has not done anything bad and he doesn't deserve this. Interesting though, a kid from Croatia cannot shoot which is really rare. Yet he manages to land in the NBA.

Bashing Roko Ukic in an article like this is kind of a dick move, whether some of it is true or not. His tone is especially douche-like.

Roko has impressed me with his ability to play well under pressure the last few games. If he can ever develop an average jump shot, he might be a good player in this league.

Perhaps, but I thought that it was a bit unnecessary....

How many young PGs come into the league with a deadly jumper? The kid is learning.... but the article makes him sound like some project that'll never amount to anything.

Basically the article seems to be saying (IMO)... "Hey guys! I know that you're all high on this kid now because he's had a few good games but it's really fool's gold... he's shit."

No one's expecting him to go out and destroy Chris Paul or make the all-star team but he's done some very good things over the last few games.

Anyone who can't see that is a hater through and through.

This is Ukic's first year in NBA and he's looked better than alot of good PG's looked in their first year.

His jumper isnt even that bad. He just needs to calm down.
He's a really hyper player.

His ball handling, passing and defensive skills are all great for a first year NBA PG.

great article by feschuk and showing he has real guts taking on roko ... what's next, complaining about jake's jump shot? criticizing the water boy for being out of shape?

Why doesn't he start by criticizing Bosh and Jose for their numerous shortcomings before taking on the little guys at the end of the bench ... What makes this article double weird is the timing, just when roko is showing some signs of life, feschuk gets the urge to throw the hammer at him. Nice way to make the rookie feel good about himself.

the best comment on this article was:

I talked to a newspaper editor who was reading your column. "This kid," he said, "is terrible."

Sports writers work for us though and they're supposed to rake our teams over the coals. Damien Cox, Steve Simmons and Richard Griffin are the same way. Feschuk's not nearly as critical or as negative as this board. Doug Smith is the anti-Feschuk and I can't stand it. You get the sense he's protecting people he considers friends. That's all fine and dandy, but don't write a column for the Star. Pull an Ulmer and blog on the Raptors website.

That being said, except for the quote, I didn't find this particular article all that negative.

I'm not against fair criticizing, but there's a time and place for everything. Criticizing roko after he had his two best games of the season is like having an article tomorrow about Bargnani comparing him with roy and aldridge, and quoting unnamed scouts who say he's the biggest bust in history ...

Doug Smith just knows his rolls. I mean role. I can't stand when some of these guys write their articles like basketball experts, when the fact is alot of them never really played basketball at a high level. Doug plays it safe, because I think he understands that he doesn't have the basketball smarts to go out and cut up a player or coach for something that he might not really understand. He's respectful, and writers should be. They should be keen observers, not critics.

see, this is the thing that Feschuk doesn't understand.
the guys a rookie who played in europe for like 3 or 4 years and is getting used to the NBA and his development so far has been great.
his jumper? hey, if he can get to the rim and finish, forget about his jumper, it'll get better in time and we saw that with Calderon.
feschuk needs to quit being a douche.

what's one got to do with another? I'm not arguing that some of these "experts" are clueless, but playing basketball at a high level doesn't make you qualified (just watch webber and payton on nba tv ...). Conversely, not playing pro ball is not a disqualifying factor either, many of the ESPN writers don't have this in their resume, and they're pretty qualified (some of them).

Roko's not terrible. He's just very raw.

He's extremely quick, and very big for a PG (6'4-6'5). He can get to the basket and is realizing that most PG's can't keep up with his first step and can't deal with his height too well.

With that said, his jumper is suspect (at least he doesn't take it much), his D is mediocre (he's more hands on than Calderon, but even he does the European - steer the player into the defender, rather than guard him straight up thing). His passing is actually quite solid.

He's older than most rookies, true (24), but has shown a lot of signs of useable NBA skills. If nothing else, he can turn into a slasher/scorer energizer off the bench. And if he works really hard, he could be another Calderon type of player. He does need to get stronger, though. He's absolutely puny.

They're qualified to write their observations on the stuff they understand, not second guess players and coaches on the nuances of the game which they don't know about, and the good ones don't do that.

Payton is an obnoxious clown on television, but if they gave an honest opinion on Ukic's game, without trying to be funny, I would say that opinion has more merit than anything you would read from a journalist in Toronto.
