Angry Feschuk: Raptors criticized within for pre-game attitude

Quote:
Miffed in the wake of the Raptors' worst loss of the season, Antoine Wright, Toronto's veteran swingman, was suggesting a change of approach on Friday night.

Wright, in the lead-up to the Raptors first meeting with the Celtics this season, criticized unnamed teammates for their lack of focus in preparing for games. And he said he appealed to team captain Chris Bosh to deliver the message.

Wright said he told Bosh, "'Hey, you've got guys in here eating popcorn, joking around before the game. And we go out there and lose by 40. It's a direct result of what's going on before the game. Guys not coming in with the right mind frame."

Wright, the 25-year-old in his fifth NBA season, was speaking of Toronto's 35-point loss in Charlotte on Wednesday, and his words appeared to resonate in some corners of the locker room.

"Good comment," said forward Amir Johnson, 22, of Wright's assessment.

Said Sonny Weems, 23: "We do fool around a lot. And it tends to carry over into the game, and that's something that needs to change."

Wow who would thought Wright would be the one to grow balls.
But that's probably because he's from a winning environment down in Dallas.
Turk is from one to but doesn't seem the type to call people out.

I heard this summer in Italian media that Bargs is a soldier and will listen to what the coach says, basically he's a robot that needs to be programmed by someone else

I think players should also tell antoine wright he is usually the 4th option for scoring on the court, not michael jordan. He takes way too many uncalled shots and dash-ups

I actually noticed this right before the charlotte game actually. Bosh was the only one with a serious look on his face. Weems and Amir were jumping around lie a coupple of school children and half the team was laughing and shit. Bosh was the only one with a serious, Game ready look hin his face.

This team is turing into more of a joke as we move into the season.

So you're critisizing Bargnani for listening to the coaches?

The fact that Wright needs to point this type of thing out to Bosh is worrisome.
The players clearly aren't policing themselves and the so-called leadership of the team isn't holding anyone accountable for anything.

Just because a guy isn't a fantastic player doesn't mean that he isn't right! Have you ever considered that the guy takes those shots because he is frustrated with what other people are doing on the floor vs. what they COULD be doing?

You know how a leader will sort of dig his team out of a hole with great play and busting his ass? I think Wright is trying to do that but the fact of the matter is, he doesn't have the skillset.

IF he is right, this is a very very very very very bad thing. Also the article says that he went and brought it up to Bosh which is the right thing to do give his position.

You'll never win with that attitude unless you are miles better in talent. That is pathetic.

I'm not going to pay for tickets to watch a bunch of adults have "fun".

He was also the one yucking it up on the bench during the last couple minutes of play against Boston last night. I'm just sayin'..

Yup, which is a MUCH bigger problem than fudged defensive assignments and missed rebounds. Those things can be fixed.

I've learned to take everything CB says with a grain of salt. He can talk the talk but he can't walk the walk. If he's tired of talking about toughness, where was he in the moments after being defecated on and stared down by Paul Pierce? I didn't see him.

I did. He was cowering under the basket, holding his "Ken-doll" like crotch area while his 50 some odd year old coaches were fighting his battles for him.

Damn right.

I'm glad Wright spoke up. It takes gutts to do that, esp when you are new to the team. Wright played on Dallas, and I bet their pre-game atmosphere was more intense.

Triano will not get the respect of his team until he puts his foot down.

Because he got kneed in the balls and was most likely winded / out of breathe.

Not sure if u've taken a shot in the balls before ... but you just go down.

I'm not surprised by this article at all.

You can see it on the floor.

I WILL say though that this is an area that I look for the coach to fix. If the players won't do anything about it then the coach HAS to.
