Why does this move have to be classified?

It was just a smart move on a number of different levels. Basketball and financial.

And, uh, yeah...NO idea where that Stephon comment came from. Are we sure FlashDWade isn't a member of the Marbury family?

first of all welcome to RF Smoochie
secondly yea you are right this move will make Cb happy to know he has someone to help him and this helps, as you said, the raps to get some free agents in 10-11 and become better

Thanks...

By the way Marbury for the vet min(if he's bought out in NY) may not be that bad of a bargain. He can back up the 1 and 2, Played with Smitch in Minny and JO will punch him in the face if he gets out of line.

Really though if he was surrounded by good guys instead of the NY team he may turn himself around

Unless Marbury is starting, he won't be a happy camper. If he's bought out, I could see Miami making a run at him.

What's the point of writing a column if you aren't being informative in any way? Anyone with any interest in the Raptors knew this already. Shit, anyone with any interest in basketball knew this already.

I agree he's not stupid. He's a fine writer in general, and I read his stuff. This article is pointless though. He could've concluded it with "In other news, the sky is blue, water is wet, and Swag is not even making an effort to pretend to do work today"

It's obvious.
What's obvious for us is not so obvious for the general public with passing interest in basketball - and that's whom he is writing for.

Why they well would we want Marbury here? And how did that ever get in this thread?

As for Feschuk. The guys a good writer and all and a really want to thank him. Dave, thank you so damn much for pointing out the obvious, wasting paper your garbage is printed on and time. You have turned your blog into what seems like a successful thread and topic here at RF. And so I thank you.

It doesn't, but there was no better move we could've made. After beefing up the Bargnani pick (Imagine Caldy/Roy/Moon/Bosh/O'Neal or Caldy/Parker/Gay/Bosh/O'Neal) and Hoffa pick, which was probably even worse because we all knew it was ******ed at the time (Caldy/Parker/Igoudola/Bosh/O'Neal, Caldy/Parker/Deng/Bosh/O'Neal), we were already stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Celtics, even before the trade, were in a much MUCH better position than us.

After looking at those 4 teams, I think I'm going to puke.

I'd say this is a win more games now and win even more games later move. It's pretty hard to just not like the move outright. But hey - JO can't pronounce "Andrea" properly so it's perfectly understandable. Show me the intelligence or the agenda in that pettiness, and that just adds to his obsession with BC's fashion sense, and Sam's love of golf. He couldn't nail Peddie so he decided to just be petty. Too bad on both counts.

If they focus on defense, and are able to get more offensive output off of a strong defense, then why can't they make it past the 2nd round?

Yep - I'm just saying why count them out already? The Bucks are going to kill them?

Exactly.

There's no team in the East besides Boston who I would put money on to finish with a better record than Toronto.

However, there are only a few teams I would put money on to finish with a worse record.

Basically, this team could win the East, and this team could miss the playoffs. Same goes for quite a few other teams in the East. A lot has changed this offseason. Beyond Boston continuing to be dominant, it's pretty damn hard to predict.

I mean, New Orleans had the second best record in the West last year, who saw that coming in July?

Nobody did and it will be hard to translate that this year if it wasn't a fluke. It is highly unlikely that was a fluke but remember when the raps made it to the playoffs two years ago people were calling that a fluke.

Ooh don't get me started on the West last season. It was like dog fight there. From 8th place to first place (Denver-LAL) was there not like a 3-4 win difference between the two? I mean, that's just nuts. You take a look at the East last year and it's now different at all. Wasn't Orlando (3rd) like 5 wins away 2nd and 5 losses away from 4th? Can you get any farther than that?

It'll be interesting to see what happens with both conference this year. Lot's of big changes and signings. No one can predict anything. Except maybe, just maybe, Boston. But then again they are no-clincher for first place either.

There's a bunch of positive things to come out of this trade even if we don't win a chip

- A couple years of playing with a defensive focus, changing the mentality of the franchise

- Less pressure off Bargs, and JO has already vowed to help him get better

- Valuable playoff or potentially second round+ experience for our core, Jose, Bosh, Moon, Bargs

- Expiring contract in the best free agent year ever. I expect that's when we take the next step, if we're going to.

At this point though, if we win the championship in the next 10 years in spite of our awful Hoffa, Joey, Bargs drafting, we'll be fortunate and luckier than most. So fingers crossed.

As long as the Raps win a championship I will forget all the bad seasons they had and everything bad they did from draftpicks(ex. Hoffa), to trades(ex. VC trade)
