Feschuk: Extreme makeover Colangelo style

This guy must be a real treat at parties!

Quote:
Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo held his third annual roster blow-up on Monday. And it’s amazing that Colangelo’s bosses, who own a TV network starved for content, haven’t turned their NBA team’s perennial changing of the guards (and forwards and centres) into a ratings killer.

It would be like “The Decision” with LeBron James, only instead of the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the money could go to the Yorkville nightclubs decimated by the impending stateside relocation of Hedo Turkoglu’s party tab.

Nobody in the NBA, after all, explodes and patches up lineups as dramatically as Colangelo, who conducts his reality-TV-worthy off-seasons as though he gets a royalty on every Raptors hashtag on Twitter. And on Monday he was back to business, agreeing on a deal — the subject of second thoughts by Charlotte owner Michael Jordan and yet to be rubber-stamped by the NBA — that would move out of Toronto a couple of his biggest mistakes as Toronto GM, namely the allegedly immovable contracts Colangelo bestowed upon Turkoglu and Jose Calderon. Also on the move would be injury-plagued forward Reggie Evans, this after Colangelo insisted that Evans’ absence through large chunks of last season was a linchpin reason for the team’s struggles.

Less than a week after losing the club’s only all-star, Chris Bosh, to a Miami powerhouse revelling in a decidedly higher-end facelift, Colangelo didn’t figure to fetch an elite replacement player in this round of furious transacting. But there were things to like about the deal that is expected to send Turkoglu to Phoenix and Calderon and Evans to Charlotte. It promises to reduce the club’s financial commitment down the road, for one, and it got rid of a lightning rod of fan discontent in Turkoglu.

And even if Colangelo often resembles a waste-management mogul who moonlights as an illegal dumper — he creates messes, then plays the hero ridding Raptorland of their scourge — the impending haul is decidedly better than trash. In Leandro Barbosa, Boris Diaw and Tyson Chandler, the Raptors have a guard, a forward and a centre, respectively, who have all been effective contributors to good teams when healthy and motivated.

I know Feschuk is king of negativity but does make a point. BC is just shuffling deck chairs ever since he had been here. At least he keeps the Raptors with hope and cap flexibility for now. These traits should allow him to have an extention and see if he can further excel his reputation

When something doesn't work you shuffle. After the 47 win season, he didn't do that much that summer if i'm not mistaken, other then getting Kapono. The last two seasons, he's brought in some pretty good players but it hasn't panned out for whatever reasons, so.....shuffle the deck.

I basically said that. BC deserves an extention but hasn't even giving me two pairs yet.

Feschuk is playing his role, let him be. If you don't like negativity - don't read the self-appointed Raptors' pessimist.

The reason why he shuffles the deck is because the foundation is flawed. When BC first started its was suppose to be FORD-BARGNANI-BOSH

Each year the foundation changes and we always have to shuffle the deck. The players brought in are just band-aid moves to stop the bleeding, but until BC has the right building blocks, the building he is trying build will always need major repairs.

Well think he has the basic foundation now.
Yes not everyone of Weems, DD, Amir, Davis, Alabi will work out but I think a majority will.
This will be a chance for Bargs to break -out or not. Personally would do a 60 to 40 on the break-out.
JJ will get his chance at a starting PG.
We have much more depth than ever before assuming the trade for Chandler, Diaw and Lenardo go through. Add in Klieza, Dorsey and Banks.

JJ, Lenardo, Banks
Weems, DD, Lenardo, Beli
Diaw, Klieza, Weems
Bargs, Chandler, Alabi
Amir, Davis, Dorsey

Plus this is doubtful the final team

Tell me about it.... Chandler/Diaw were in, now they're out. Maybe they'll be back... Who knows, maybe Turk won't get traded afterall, and we won't get the trade exception from the Heat. Is that even official?!?

He's right though.

Prediction...

Just like last year, a bunch of people will say, "I like this team - young, fast, etc" and hopes will be high. We'll be shit out of the gate, bounce back, be really shitty and desperate and, finally, be out. Lather, rinse, repeat.

How do you get the right foundation unless you shuffle the deck?

It was supposed to be FORD-BARGZ-BOSH, obviously that didn't work, so we got new a foundation. He admits when the foundation doesn't work and tries to change it.

Bosh couldn't have signed his contract and worn a miami jersey unless that was official.
