Feschuck: Board backs Colangelo's plan for the Raptors

So where's the extension?

I really hope that he gets the extension.

Rudy-T 03-04-2011 06:06 PM

And what is the plan? Make money for MLSE? Have some sort of success?

Looks like a youth movement, rebuild and try and do something at the draft.

Basically youth + flexibility.

surreyjack 03-04-2011 06:13 PM

Looks like we're stuck with Bitchani for the next 5 years

Don Vito 03-04-2011 06:16 PM

The secret plan is to develop Bargnani as the #1 option for the next 10 years.

Sound like something they say when they actually just want to keep the payroll down and fool the fans that we would compete for something during next years.

LX 03-04-2011 06:45 PM

the plan is to lay low until they finally get the damn team sold

Colangelo won't stay here to not spend money, make deals and try to compete. People want a rebuild, and when it happens shit like this is written. Some are never happy.

If Bargs is involved in that "plan", in the capacity as a key player on this team, BC should be replaced, and then lobotomized.

Where's the hate Amir Johnson and James Johnson thread? They both stunk it up today...

There is only room for 8 current hate threads and they are all about Bargnani.... wait your turn!

Calm down. I was just mocking MLSE.

Im not unhappy about the current situation. Im not a tank fan and I never demanded a rebuilding or blowing the team up, but of course we have to rebuild, because we lost the corner stone of the team last summer. Simple as that.

Trade Barg+Jose for D-Will and their 2012 1st round pick :yeah:

Of all the cryptic things heard around London, I think Larry Tanenbaum’s “Bryan has a plan and we back his plan as a board” comment might be the most newsworthy.

The contract extension, or new deal, or whatever you want to call it for Colangelo has been rumoured and expected now for quite some time but it’s not done yet. The Tanenbaum remark was the first public utterance by someone at that level of importance all year and had to be welcome news.

Now, you know I think they should, and will, give the GM a new deal. Yes, this year has been bad, last year was so-so (we all remember the good feelings of February that died with a Bosh injury after) and the first two that ended with playoff appearances had fans over the moon and the team on the rise.

I’ve always thought there’s a solid core of good kids on this roster that just needs some time to grow up, physically and mentally, and things will be all right.

And I think the guy who started the process – going to Ground Zero and building it up – is the guy who should get to end it.

Yes, this season has been ugly, but it’s also been in some ways necessary; there is a plan in place – young kids, financial flexibility, a group rather than one guy to build around – and the quicker they get the future settled, the better.

I don’t know if the hold up is because of ownership issues (is Rogers still in play? Are there other groups or individuals sniffing around?) or senior management issues (a replacement for Richard Peddie must be found) but it’s time to get on with the business of settling the basketball hierarchy.

I was thinking the same thing. Do what seatle did several years ago. Trade your best player for a top 5 pick. However, can Bargnani net you a top 5 pick. Do you think after suffering another dissapointing season, Minnesota, Sacramento, Washington, Detroit, Cleveland or New Jersey would surrender a top 5 or 7 pick?
