Lightbulb Fantasy Sports - Raptors Players Top 10 Power Rankings

PRE-SEASON FANTASY POWER RANKINGS
* Based on fantasy contributions, not real contributions:

1. Chris Bosh: Top ten fantasy option
2. Jose Calderon: A legit top 30 player. Will be 100% for the season opener.
3. Andrea Bargnani: The guy is ready to bust out in a big way. A top 50 player.
4. Hedo Turkoglu: Top 50 player. Will offer combo guard-like stats from the forward slot.
5. Jarret Jack: Primed for a huge year. #1 option off the bench.
6. DeMar DeRozan: Gigantic potential. Should be a top 100 player by season end.
7. Antoine Wright: Most likely to start the season. A great first half of the season option. Value should drop as DeRozan gets up to speed with the pro game.
8. Marco Belinelli: Will go late in drafts. Low risk, high reward potential.
9. Amir Johnson: Ranked here based on past production. Status/role with Raptors unknown.
10. Rasho Nesterovic: Only useful to remedy an occasional injury.

Since he started for a playoff team last season in the West and is the best fiit, right now, to fill that role to begin the season.

Most people including Triano and BC have said Derozan will start. That could change i guess, but unlikely because Wright has to be our main SF off the bench.

Like i said though i don't want to start that debate again. Let's just wait and see.

I haven't heard Triano say DeRozan was starting. Can you provide a link? From everything I gathered it was going to be a decided in camp.

He's brought up starting him three times in interviews, one of them being the day after he was drafted. But here was another time which was posted here a few weeks ago.

JT: Everything could still change. The reason that I think of starting him is because where else do you get a young guy minutes? You want those minutes coming with good players. If you can buy him eight minutes in the first quarter and eight minutes in the third quarter, now you've got a rookie who's playing sixteen minutes per game but they're good minutes. You're not winning or losing NBA games in the first eight minutes of the first quarter or the first eight minutes of the third quarter. If he does well, he's going to earn himself more minutes. If he doesn't, and we feel like we need to bring him off the bench, then we'll do that.

I really like our back-end guys, and those will be the guys who are on the floor at crunch time, but it will give (DeMar) a chance to grow with our top four or five guys that are hopefully going to be with out organization for a long while. I mean, we've got Jose for four years, DeRozen for four, Jack for four, Turkoglu for five, Bargnani for five, Bosh for one. That's our top-six players and five of them we have for four or five years. I don't think you can be in a better situation than that. And if that doesn't sell Bosh on coming back, obviously we want Chris here, but then I still think that when your top four or five guys are in that position, then you reload with somebody at that spot and it's a pretty good group to be playing around.
I don't think anything is set in stone, but i think it's his spot to lose by the looks of it.

Tim Chisholm: Sitting down with Triano 1 on 1

Thanks for posting that. I still think Wright is going to be a factor in the first half of the season. He's one of the best defenders on the team.

Of course he'll be a factor. He'll be getting minutes at both SF/SG positions i imagine. It's gonna be difficult though...let's say Derozan gets his 16MPG that leaves 32MPG for Belinelli, Wright + Jack?

Possible minutes @ SG?

Derozan- 16MPG
Belinelli- 20MPG
Wright- 6MPG (+12-15MPG @ SF)
Jack- 6MPG (+16-18MPG @ PG)

Tough to say though?

Hedo 35min
DeMar 16min
Jose 35min
Total Minutes: 86

Total Remaining Minutes: 58

Wright will battle Jack and Belinelli for 45 available at the guard spots. I mean really Jack is going to eat up all the 13 available minutes at the point and so Jack is only going to eat into around 12 minutes of the 32 at the 2. So, really there is around 20 minutes to divvy up between Wright and Belinelli at the 2.

He'll battle Johnson for the 13 minutes at the 3.

I see Wright getting 20 a game to start the season.
