If true, it goes to show that background and education have little to do with it -suddenly making a ton of money is very difficult to handle. Just think of all the examples of rich offsprings who burn through the family fortune in a decade once they inherit it.
This is entirely bullshit. The reason lottery winners go broke is because the lottery is a tax on the poor. They are aimed at the poor. A good percentage playing it are precisely the percentage that will piss it away because of their background . Rich people don't play the lottery. Most middle class people don't play the lottery. It has nothing to do with it being too much money to handle and background has everything to do with it.

And the NBA should have money management courses and I would be horrified if they don't.

Edit; as a matter of fact this is the first in the google search.

The suggestion would be that education should be onging every year and attendance mandatory for the all years of a rookie contract. It takes time to build habits.

not quite, here are official stats from OLG:

http://www.olg.ca/assets/documents/m...fact_sheet.pdf

23% make under 50k
32% make 50-99k
26% make over 100k
rest is undeclared

now, 100k+ is not rich by any account, but 60% are in 50k+ group, which can be qualified as middle class.

I see no reason why OLG would slant it or even defend themselves............... sigh.

Agreed, maybe not in terms of celebrities but everyday people, for sure.

If you make over 50k, you're doing alright IMO

It depends where you live. 50k in Toronto is ok but not great, 50k in a small town is very good.

as a family in toronto, that's probably just barely over the average I would think. Not sure if the income is family or individual though, too lazy to look up the pdf.
