Arrow Ettore Messina quits Real Madrid job

I thought this might get some of you dudes excited.

Quote:
Ettore Messina resigned from Real Madrid head coach position. The decision came after three recent losses of the Madrid outfit. The 51-year-old specialist took over Real Madrid in the previous season. He led the team to ACB Semifinals in 2010 as well as Spanish Cup Finals in 2009 and 2010. Previously Ettore Messina worked in Bologna, Benetton Treviso, CSKA Moscow and the Italian NT. Emanuele Molin will replace Ettore Messina at the bridge.

Ahem.

Perhaps Brian took a little Spanish detour on route to London? had himself a chat with Senor Messina? hmmm?

Here's hoping.

Fancylad wants to see this happen.

His philosophy seems well suited for the NBA, focusing more on player development and individual freedom rather than complex systems.

I'm not degrading that style. The Raps simply aren't ready for something like the triangle or a modified Princeton. Just look at Minny for example. For a rebuilding team, we need to focus on player development, no?

These young cats dont need freedom. They need discipline. Sam Mitchell would have had a field day with these guys. I cant remember any talks of the raps being a defensive liability when he coached.
Or is my memory selective?

Coaching in the NBA is different than Europe. Most NBA players wouldn't like it and will demand trades.

Yeah, and bologna was only one the best teams in euroleague history. And Messina is known for being very tough on his players. Thats the reason he left Real Madrid, he never really connected with the players. I dont know if he could accept how much control players have in the nba. Still, he is a basketball genious and I would love to have him coaching the raps.

I hate him but that said you are completely right. He is a basketball genious, and by the way Toronto is the kind of team he likes to coach. Sure he's not NBA experience but he knows the game and most important knows how to run a team.

How is his English? Not to sound like a D-Bag or anything, but the last thing this team needs is a language barrier between the coach and players.

OVERRATED ?I guess you don't know that he won everythings in Europe, and ask other coach worldwide what they think of him. I repeat I hate him I knew him in person so I know what i'm talking about, but he's a great coach, for sure better than half the actual NBA coach
