David Thorpe: (12:22 PM ET ) It's all about JO.

Eriqua (Toronto): Can my Raptors win the Atlantic this year?
David Thorpe: (12:51 PM ET ) Yes.

Gurk 09-10-2008 04:25 PM

RAptors winning the Atlantic?
If that happens I will be so happy

jeffb 09-10-2008 05:21 PM

Raptors will be third in the Altlantic:

1)Celtics
2)76ers
3)Raptors

Kirby 09-10-2008 06:19 PM

Ok it'll be
Raptors
Celtics
76ers :D

Gurk 09-10-2008 08:05 PM

I think the most logical thing is:
1)Celtics
2)Raptors
3)76ers

Belsius 09-10-2008 08:13 PM

1)Boston
2)Cavs
3)Raptors
4)Orlando
5)Detroit
6)Miami
7)76ers
8)Wizards

Gurk 09-10-2008 08:17 PM

Wow you placed miami 6 and philly 7. I can see you aren't into the Philly hype
BTW I think it will be
1)Boston
2)Cavs
3)Raptors
4)Orlando
5)76ers
6)Wizards
7)Pistons
8)Pacers

Belsius 09-10-2008 08:44 PM

I think wade is so hungry of wins that he will be an MVP candidate.

Gurk 09-10-2008 08:50 PM

And now he has Beasley to help him out

Torontosaurus 09-11-2008 12:12 AM

Although they're not in the Atlantic, you guys got Detroit way too low on your lists and their team is still intact

Gurk 09-11-2008 09:39 AM

But they are pretty old now, so....

how does this display logic, in any sense of the word?

Miami is in trouble minutes wise with Wade/Beasley/Marion (no way can Marion play the 5). Nonetheless, Wade plus anyone is scary, let alone those two. They will most definitely go small at times this year, and tempt teams to run with them. Against our lineup, in theory, it should fail because of our size up front, but we all know the history of the Raptors interior D...

Aside from being pathetically weak in the middle, Miami is a scary team this year. They have a bunch of options to try out at PG (Mario Chalmers could become good one day, Chris Quinn is unselfish albeit a bit crappy so far in his young career, and Marcus Banks could be decent off the bench.) They have a lot of young guys who could become decent - Dorrell Wright (who's just 22!), Yakhouba Diawara, Chalmers and of course Michael Beasley.

Gurk 09-12-2008 03:33 PM

What about a line-up of
PG-Wade
SG-Marion
SF-Beasley
PF-Wright
C-Blount or Mourning if healthy

I think this is very likely. I don't think we'll be much worse or much better than Philly, at best the difference between the two teams will be 3-4 games. I just think Philly plays harder and plays better defense than us, simple as that.

Superjudge 09-12-2008 10:32 PM

agreed.

philly gets on it.

Green is under rated by raps fans.

and Iggy, well, he's getting better.

brand is gravy

Gurk 09-12-2008 10:33 PM

Well can't you say the same with JO
Doesn't he make the Raps better?

Superjudge 09-12-2008 11:09 PM

yep.

ut over all product, philly is ACTIVE on D, toronto lacks in that dept. And the one guy that would get messy, Dragon Ball Z, he bolted for Euro 2009.

So ya, Philly has an edge there.
