Let the second-guessing continue!

Quote:
Anthony Sydney Australia: Have we seen Brian Colangelo's first big mistake as Raptors GM in not taking Brandon Roy with the first overall pick instead of Bargnani?

Chad Ford: (1:28 PM ET ) Right now it looks that way ... though at the end of last season Bargnani looked like he was worth a No. 1 pick. I think this does show you how much size is valued in the draft. There's a reason that only one guy under 6-6 has been drafted No. 1 in the past 20 years.

Mark(Toronto): Chad, seeing the progression of Aldridge, Gay and Roy this year, did Colangelo make a rare gaffe in taking Bargnani first overall a year ago? Or is it still too early to tell given the injuries etc?

Chad Ford: (1:31 PM ET ) Just a follow-up to the first question. The other guy Colangelo really liked in the draft was Rudy Gay. Given his stellar play for Memphis this year ... I'm not sure he won't end up being the best player in the class. He's got so much potential on size and talent. If he keeps playing this aggressive (the knock on him in college) he'll live up to his early hype. Remember, most scouts had Gay ranked as the No. 1 prospect going into the summer of 2006.

It would be nice to have players that can contribute immediately like Roy, Gay and Aldridge, but I guess all we can do it just wait and hope that Bargnani can come into his own. I'm just praying he's not the next Sam Bowie.

the next olowakandi....the next tschitichvilli or however you spell it...Im thinking its too soon to tell still, but the guy looks aweful. at least he isnt tantilizing us with a good one day gone the next type of season. at least he consistently aweful.
seriously, this dude started strong and hasn't tapered off...he fell off a fucking cliff. even before he was injured i remember some aweful shooting nights, like 2 for 15 and 1 for 12 or something like that. is he not being used correctly? are they not putting him into a position where he can succeed?

That's exactly it Cling, but I sincerely don't think Andrea could keep up with other SF in this league. I think PF would better suit him and the team, but we have a little issue with a player named Chris Bosh in his way.

Anyhow, I'm a firm believer that Bargs will not amount to much if the Raps continue playing him at centre. But of course I hope I'm wrong like I was with LaMarcus when I said he wouldn't amount to shit in the pro's.

I believe that he'll eventually learn to play with his size... he has the shot of a sg or a sf, but the body of a C. He's usually either the tallest player on the floor at any given time or maybe a close second*usually*. Its not like he's a slower player than Rasho....He really needs to learn how to play like he's the tallest dude on the court. If he blocks shots and rebounds the ball...(an area where the Raptors are in desperate need)...*moon leads the team in blocks...i think*, then he can contribute to the team. I think he'll be a VERY important piece of the Raptors future....if he can learn his position and becomes comfortable on the court.

Hopefully it wont take him a ridiculous amount of time.
