The 8th seeding doesn't bother me. Even the 10th doesn't bother me.

It's the analysis or lack thereof that bothers me. It's either stats based (Hollinger), or previous history from 2 years ago (Bargnani developed last year, the idea of him developing even further isn't something that's top of mind). The criticisms of lack of defense and rebounding are fair, but the fact that adding intangibles like Evans, Turkoglu and Jack aren't mentioned irks me.

I like to look aty it like this.... I count backwards from all the other teams. There are a lot of really good teams in the East. 10th may be realistic.

this is part of the rankings I posted yesterday, there were ten writers voting, and some of them had us even at 4th:

Quote:
Chris Sheridan, ESPN.com - Atlantic: 2, East: 4
It gets muddled trying to guess the one- or two-game difference that'll separate the East's 4 through 6 teams. A key for the Bosh Farewell Year is whether they'll get 3-point shooting from Bargnani, Belinelli, Calderon and DeRozan.
Quote:
Jemele Hill, ESPN.com Page 2 - Atlantic: 2, East: 5
Bosh, Bargnani and now Turkoglu give the Raptors troublesome size. But can Turk be what he was in Orlando without a powerful center like Dwight Howard and a bevy of 3-point shooters? Bosh's future in Toronto depends on it.

I think that's a pretty weak prediction from Chad Ford, that we would come in 2nd in the Atlantic and still end up 10th in the East

There are going to be A LOT of "experts" eating their words this season.

I will never understand why they're so high on teams like PHI and ATL and unwilling to acknowledge that we may have improved.

10th in the east??? Are you facking kidding me? Are they honestly expecting another debacle of a year like the last one?

Hey! I just read the whole thing, and it's not bad overall.

ESPN has a few too many "experts". I really wish they relied more heavily on just a few people with a longstanding understanding of the game as it's played by teams on the court, and not those that emphasize gimmicky numbers analysis, fantasy shit, star status or any off-court stuff.

Do any of these people realize we had a backcourt of:

Will Solomon/Roko Ukic, Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon starting for 20+ games last year?

I wonder.

Mr. Ford's prediction jumps out at me. Not just the spot reserved for the Raps, but the fact he must have Philly even lower -seeing as he has the Raps 2nd in the Atlantic. Clearly he's going out on a limb, and placing some long shots -IMO- in the playoffs.

philadelphia is ranked below us, on average. Only chicago, atlanta and wizards are ahead of us, beyond the top 3.

Just because we changed most of our roster doesn't mean we're a playoff team.

Every year Raptors fans whine that the American media "underrates" us with their predictions, and pretty much every year (except 06-07), it turns out they overrated us. I hope we make the playoffs, but there's nothing wrong with someone saying we're the 10th best team. What were we last year, 12th I think?

Fuck you espn we have to be atleast 6. Im sure we'll start off slow but we have to much talent for it not to come together. The teams that probibly will finish ahead of us beside the top 3 are washington and atlanta. actually screw washington we'll be 5th for sure we didnt look any worse than chicago or miami when we faced them last year we are much better and deeper this year.

This is ESPN, not TSN.

TSN looks at the Raptors on a whole other level.
