Default ESPN: Slow Start Could Lead to Abandonment of Bosh

Quote:
There's already talk in Toronto that a slow start could lead to an abandonment of the Chris Bosh project and send their star player into the marketplace.

NBA top contenders remain the same - ESPN

Yeah i'm sure there's "already talk"...such bullshit.

i think that is a fair assumption, waiting longer can only lower bosh's market value. But obvisously i rather we dunt trade Bosh and we do amazing this year

whats the problem...?
i definitely see this as a possibility.
BC is no fool, i'm sure he's got plan A, B, C, D for every outcome.
if we start off slow, it would be smart to start looking to trade your biggest asset, especially if you know that losing will add to his desire to bolt at season's end.
BC has to be ready to cover his ass if things start going south.

So what? A slow start for any team could mean similar things for them. What's the "already" have to do with it? They could have just as easily commented on how Bosh needs to lead the team to a good start to ensure his value in the marketplace. Instead it sounds like the team is ready to throw the guy out with the trash at the slightest sign of trouble, and I don't see where that would be the approach or expectation.

we all know what happened with Smitch last year after 18 games...
expectations were not up to par and he got the boot.
after a good offseason (and hopefully it will get better), the expectations my be even higher. if we start slow, i have a bad feeling heads will roll - and CB will be under heavy scrutiny.

JA Adande has never acknowledged in the Raptors so I could care less what he pulls out of his ass.

Nothing really to write about - so "they" start to "talk".

Winning cures everything. Losing produces scapegoats. Now that we look to have Bosh surrounded by the group that, at least on paper, looks even stronger than the one that won the division three seasons ago, it's on Bosh to deliver.

Yep,

THEY know everything.

Just like they all Knew the Hedo was coming.

THEY don't know shit.

THEY have to make it up during the summer.

I could not be THEM.

Not necessarily. If they don't move him now then I see no benefit in moving at the deadline as compared to next off season in a S&T. If anything if they don't make a move now they're better off to wait until next summer...That is if he does not want to come back.

all i can say is this -

Mr. Bosh had better be busting his ass for 82 games if he wants to play the cry baby game about how lousy this team is... AS the Captain, the guys will look to him to lead, those soft 18 footers are not going to cut it this season... he needs to work his ass off and lead! or get the hell out of the way!

BC has given him a lot more support for the upcoming year, it will be interesting to see how many ppg he can get NOT getting the ball every time they set the offense up... that will be a change for him sharing the ball with someone who can actually score consistantly <Hedo> and some guards who won't be afraid to get the ball low to Andrea... I suspect if Bosh starts slow, the trade me talk will stop very quickly...

He gets to the line ten times a game. Defense is where I'd like to see him toughen up.

Bosh is where he is at because he has busted his ass. Yes he needs to take it to an even higher ass busting level, but let's not make out like he's tended to put it on cruise control.

after Jose went down, his numbers fell from 28 or so per game to 22 or so, his career average, many games he floated up and down the floor and as apollo said, still can't defend his position well. should he develop a KG attitude on defense, the sky would be the limit for him... he is small for a PF, but not able to guard the 3 either as we saw this past season... with Hedo able to guard the 3 and the 4, i look for Bosh to have to move inside with bargs.. his heart will be questioned all season playing guys much stronger than him every night...

I guess Vince set the standard for dogging it here in Toronto but Chris' tendency to settle for 18ft jumpers is how I'd define "putting it on cruise control".
With a more offensively gifted and creative line-up, maybe CB4 won't feel that hoisting those shots is the best and only option anymore.
Either the Raptors team scoring average goes up considerably or Bosh's numbers dip. I'd bet this team lights it up.

Yeah - I'd say that's hardly cruise control, but not having other reliable scoring options. Which is really repeating what you just said Dann. I think he needed to hit more of those 18 footers, but whatever. Bosh hardly compares to Vince in terms of talent level. He's gotten where he's at due to some kind of work ethic, and willingness to compete every night.
