I would offer 5yrs/55Mil. Fuck it! At his age it's worth it imo.

We'd be a starting SF away from being a playoff team in the awful Eastern Conference.

yeah, see, i just don't think a near max money deal for another piece of the puzzle, and a non-scoring one at that (as good as his other attributes are,) is the right way to go for us.

When will it be? Fact is Jonas is probably 2-3yrs away from being a true NBA starter. And we've needed a starting Center for what seems like eons. At some point you gotta shit or get off the pot.

yep, don't disagree with you. I'm just very cautious on this deal.

are BC and the rest operating on the idea that chandler at 4/45-50mill is just about the best FA we can get in the next 2 or 3 years?

Well, this'll be the third thread I've said this in.

We cannot offer 5 years to another team's player. Even in a sign and trade. 4 years is the most we can offer. No matter what.

Memphis has like 37-39 committed already. I'm pretty sure that figure DOES NOT include the massive extension Randolph signed (4 years - 71 million...about 16-17 per year).

They do need him, that's a fact. But if a team offers him 10.5 - 12 million, would they match?

they might still match, but they'd be looking to deal somebody very soon after.

Gasol is also the best on that list, and the most versatile. Good offense, very good passing, great D. Very little to dislike there. Right now there's only Howard I'd take over him out of pure 5s.
This. ^^^^

Getting Gasol would excite me even more than landing a kid like Deandre Jordan.

He's an "old school C" and he's still fairly young. And he's BIG.

I'd gladly pay through the nose for the talent that he's shown.

What would we do with Gasol when we have Jonas coming the following year? Convert Jonas to power forward? Have him play backup?
