Default ESPN player rankings

meaningless yes - but here are the Raptors so far - only three. Last season there was maybe 5 already this low. So maybe the bench isn't such a disaster?

anything outside top 250 is not a rotation player probably (8 x 30). We'll see how many bench players can crack top 250 ...

Even top 300 is a top 10 rotation player. I'd love for an 8 man rotation, but very few teams actually use that - there are usually a couple specialists as well, such as Novak and Gray. Ideally we'd see a distribution of our bench players evenly between 150 and 300 (with the obvious actual ideal being "as high as possible").

There are bench players and bench players. On a good team, at least one starter-caliber player comes off the bench...

I've said something along these lines before. Our bench will be ranked in the bottom 5 by the end of the season.

I agree. Our bench is nowhere near to be a top 10 bench.

You guys are right. The bench isn't good enough. Damn, if only we could go back to a full roster of bench fodder where bench players were constantly pushed into starters roles, there was no sense of a hierarchy of talent, and there was no way to get a good rotation nailed down. Now we have legit starters and all that good shit that brings some clarity, and it is likely a hell of a lot more important to moving forward as a team than having just the right kind of highly ranked sixth man. That's a problem that needs to be solved eventually, but that doesn't mean doom and gloom pervades everything.

We do need a legit 6th man who can score. If Ross can be that guy, great! but at this point, I highly doubt it. I like TH and our PGs are ok as a back for Lowry.

In due time. My biggest point is that with a solid, well-balanced starting lineup in place, a bench without a major scoring threat can still have a good impact. When you have bench guys that are starting, and then guys coming off the bench needing to make up for inconsistent play, then you have a truly dismal situation. In due time we could see bench guys that support the starters become consistent enough to get us excited about how strong they are in their given roles, or even as guys that can fill in over a period of injury trouble without too much drop off. No, we aren't Brooklyn, but their bench is not organically going to get better in due time.

Casey really needs to work on his rotations. If he can find the right mix we will be fine

I really dont know what to think of ross, he has all this hype as a great shooter, but really hasnt impressed me much at all. I hope he trained hard this summer to get his shit together.

Ross in his rookie season started 2 games out of 73 and put 6.4 PPG, 2.2 RPG/ 40% from the field and 33% behind the arc with 71% from the line in 17 MPG.

DD in his rookie season started 65 games out of 77 and put 8.6 PPG 2.9 RPG/ 50% from the field and 25% behind the arc with 76% from the line in 21.6 MPG.

So overall he isn't that far behind, but DD as a starter was given time to play through his mistakes, Ross? not so much... Now if MU wants to make a playoff push there will be no leeway for him.

DD was younger and also wasnt known as a shooter. Ross came in the league with the notion of being a great shooter
