ESPN Insider - Rookie Watch: Biggest surprises

Quote:

Ed Davis, Raptors -- March 14: March has been his best month, averaging 10 points and nine boards with more than two combined blocked shots and steals a game. He's had five games with 13 or more rebounds since Feb. 11, a huge indicator that he has a chance to be a prime rebounder. Couple that with his excellent scoring sense, and the Raptors appear to have found a long-term replacement for Chris Bosh. While he doesn't have Bosh's total talent, we know Toronto can look to draft or acquire help in the other positions -- the Raptors are set at PF

Of course we are set at PF. Davis/Amir is more than stacked for the future.

now trade bargs/jose for a center, draft irving, barnes or walker and we're on our way :dancing:

But we need to draft a power forward right? I mean it's just how things are done. I know it's not going to happen, but if it does, it puts us right there with Minny and their pg fascination.

Who is this mystery center we're always trading for?

And if he's so good, why are they taking on two soft, no defense playing dudes with crappy contracts for him?

Javale McGee or DeAndre Jordan is the solution to our center problems. Too bad we'd have to give up too much to get them.

Think the Clippers are interested in Andrea? :mischief:

I like the Amir/tandem, it seems to be the most consistent tandem in hustle, defense, and offense

Bargnani and Griffin together on the same team would be the funniest shit in the NBA. Then the Clippers are really cursed.

Yah I don't get it...There is a C that comes to mind Chris Kaman if we could some how trade AB for him and get a pick from them that would be good.

There not going to move Jordan nor are the Wiz moving J. Magee anytime soon IMO

Kaman has really slowed down and I don't want any part of that contract.

I'd be willing to take a low risk (cheap) option in Oden. See if Pryz has anything left in the tank. Something pretty low risk.

Otherwise I'd go with a PF/C hybrid who's athletic enough to make up for size.

--i meant to say cheap

I'm not trying to be an asshole with this question but how is Oden low risk?

Do you mean if we can get him for a cheap price?

Yep.

I should've qualified it. My bad.

I agree with this.

We should stay young, cheap and low risk. No sense in getting a big contract to limit what we can do with our roster. Thing is, C's are at a premium (as always), and to get one of the brand names would cost us a lot.

Guys like Oden, Chandler, Dalembert are good options I think. Won't command a huge salary and are those mobile, shot blocking presences we're looking for.

I still say we deal Bargnani and some kind of pick to get Bogut. Pipe dream, I know, but damn it would be nice.

Real pipe dream, since they have Bargnani (lite?) in Ilyasova.

I'm off the trade Bargnani band-wagon for now. He still gets 'some' respect calls and really he's a vet on a young team which is pretty important too. I'd look to trade him 2 years down the road (maybe sooner) when we have pieces everywhere and we'd be ok without him offensively and he'd bring a void we need, similar to how Stackhouse was traded by Detroit for Rip, who was a perfect fit for that team.
