A few thoughts from the discussion:

Quote:
Coach Thorpe: Nick, DeRozen makes me think of a younger and bigger Courtney Lee. He realy impressed me in Vegas with his feel and willingness to make easy plays.
Quote:
Coach Thorpe: The Raps X-factor, to my mind, is whether Bargs boards. And defends.

Coach Thorpe: Tim, I'm not interested in who starts at sg in November. In January, it's likely to be DD. His upside is considerable, and he needs pt.

Some highlights:

[Comment From Sunny]
The talent is definitely there this year to make a push in the East. As an optimistic fan, I realistically think the Raps can challenge for the Atlantic. I think it's going to come down to the coaching. How would you evaluate the coaching staff? Is Triano ready to lead a team? Is Iavaroni deserving of all the hype?

Coach Thorpe: Sunny-I'm a Triano fan. Period. I really like him. And Johnson has always been more "project" than contributor.

-------------

[Comment From Nick]
What player as a rookie does DeRozen remind you most of and which player do you think is his ceiling?

Coach Thorpe: Nick, DeRozen makes me think of a younger and bigger Courtney Lee. He realy impressed me in Vegas with his feel and willingness to make easy plays

--------------

[Comment From Age]
What is the x factor for the success of the Raptors this season?

Coach Thorpe: The Raps X-factor, to my mind, is whether Bargs boards. And defends.

--------------

[Comment From Mark]
What kind of holes do you see Coach? It appears that BC has filled the most glaring issues (backup PG and depth)

Coach Thorpe: Mark, how the Raps handle themselves in the paint is huge. If they can not stop people inside, or rebound well enough, the season will be bumpy.

--------------

[Comment From cp85]
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here in Canada and fellow Canadians living abroad. Who s the second option behind Bosh on offense? I would like to see Bargs get a few more touches!!

Coach Thorpe: Mmmm, Thanksgiving. I think we'll see a lot of Hedo pick and pops with Bargs.

--------------

[Comment From jesse]
would you be shocked to see this team in the 4 seed at the end of the regular season?

Coach Thorpe: Jesse, I would not be shocked. That 4th spot could go to a # of teams. It's a stretch, but possible. Jay can coach.

---------------

[Comment From David]
is 50 wins possible? Colangelo stated that will be there goal this year

Coach Thorpe: David, don't you like your GM sounding confident? I do. 50 is a lot, but it's a fair # to shoot for.

---------------

[Comment From Bryan Colangelo]
You don`t answer my calls Thorpe

Coach Thorpe: That's because you keep calling collect, BC.

Of course that wasn't actually BC though. So how much of a burn can it be?
