Raptors ESPN to blame for Shot Clock malfunction

Is the infrastructure at the ACC that fragile?

Apparently, the ACC shot clock was fried by an ESPN tech using too many plugs. Just like at your house!

I think blaming the shot clock and espn for our loss is a pretty bad excuse.

The first time in ages we get espn coverage in toronto, and we throw them under the bus, cool move

Nobody is blaming ESPN for our loss against Brooklyn.

They're OBJECTIVELY stating that an ESPN tech is the reason why the shot clocks malfunctioned. No throwing under the bus when that is EXACTLY what happened.

First of all, who said we lost because of it? Second, if they fried the system it should be pointed out. Would you rather hear ESPN themselves or other channels crack jokes about it and making us look like fools. Fact is, ESPN will cover us if we're winning regardless of this bullshit. The only reason they haven't covered much in the past is because we've sucked.

All i have to say is, MLSE better fix this before the All-Star weekend.

It was implied jk I agree that they should take responsibility. From what I remember the score was very close early or mid 3rd quarter when it did happen, so wouldn't it be impartial and not effect one team over the other?

yes, for the most part.

A case can be made that since we're the less experienced team, it gave brooklyn an advantage. More experience=less nerves=able to deal with something crazy and unpredicted like this happening better than people who already have huge jitters and are just getting used to the flow.

But that would make us look like bitches.

We are bitches if let that sink in. It didn't sink in when we beat high caliber teams impressively during the season. We brag that we could beat any team in the league. But shit, yesterday we just gave in when it counted. If we want to be legit playoff team, stick to the our brand of basketball that garnered respect in the first place.

What pissed me off the most was that demar turned into Rudy yesterday, with all his fucking isolation play. Pass it out right away, or swerve around and look for a trailing val, let the game come to you.

take it easy. It was the first playoff game for the majority of our team, and starting lineup. Issues will come up.

Lol that something as important as the shot clock isn't on its own circuit.

Oh I know, and believe that we are going to bounce back if blatant mistakes are addressed. But experience only goes so far. look at the golden state's run last year. I really hope we make a similar breakout, then again we don't have curry. That's how young team develops, sticking to a certain style of play, win a round and entices free agents like Iggy. We got to make a name for ourselves this series.

agreed. this series is crucial to any sort of enticing ability we have around the league. Already we've made progressions during the season. Not just as a team that got 3rd in the east, but a team that can mix it up with the big boys and sometimes come on top. Now to show we can do the same in the playoffs.

Yes it is. It's in need of huge maintenance and upgrades. To be fair, ESPN was set up at least 5 hours before the game. I don't know how you can blame ESPN. The shot clock data system is operated by the house.

well if they set up using too many plugs on one circuit, then it's really the house's fault for not giving them multiple circuits or letting them know not to set up everything in that one certain way, or whatever.

On that one possession where Devlin said "how long is this shot clock", how many seconds actually transpired? Even before he said that it seemed like the countdown was late. Anybody know? That was at a key moment if I remember correctly and I think it led to a Brooklyn score.

It really impacted the game, not the reason we lost, but it really bails out the defense and makes it easier when somebody on the loudspeaker is communicating how much time is left on the shot clock.
