ESPN: Bargnani made Bosh a better rebounder

Quote:

Could Bargnani's rebounding deficiencies have had a boosting effect on Bosh’s rebounding numbers?

Yes, it does appear that Bosh not-so-magically rebounded better when Bargnani was at his side in Toronto. Looking at the 2009-10 data, Bosh collected more rebounds with Bargnani in the game than when Bargnani was off the court.

Now, it's conceivable that there's something else going on here. Bargnani could be such a poor shooter that there are more available rebounds simply because Bargnani's missing more shots. But that theory doesn't hold much water.

In the end, the case of Bosh's rebounding serves as a lesson for us basketball fans. Sometimes we rush to judgment when we see a big change in a player's statistics and place the blame squarely on the individual. But as we're seeing with Bosh, basketball players are also products of their environment.

Context matters.

The context of statistics matters? Shocking.

What is up with the recent hate on Bargnani from ESPN? Is their a team trying to trade for him who is trying to diminish his value? :confused2:

They need a tough rebounder on the team.
We need reggie back in the mix desperatley.

This team is generally not losing because of rebounding. Reggie back just adds another one-dimensional player that teams can take advantage of.

They need a player in the middle that can help protect the paint against the many attacks from the perimeter that slip by every game.

You can't expect to find a "rebounding specialist" to fix Bargnani's woes. We'll always be below average in that department as long as he's starting.

Hey, an ugly chick is an ugly chick. You can't hide the flaws of an ugly chick. People mention, hey he scores 21 points a game. So what, the ugly chick chick has a great set of knockers. But the rest of the female is all bad, just like Bargnani's game!!!

It might be the opposite. His value is going down with all the hate, so it would be harder to move him.

I'm implying that a team is getting ESPN to but out all this bad media, so they can get him for cheap.
