Default ESPN: 30 Best NBA International Players

Jose at number 8 with Rasho and Delfino at 29 & 30 respectively.

Bargnani doesn't crack the Top 30 unfortunately.

Top 5:

1) Tim Duncan
2) Dirk Nowitzki
3) Steve Nash (notice the flag? They chose his birth country instead)
4) Manu Ginobili
5) Yao Ming

The ridiculously efficient Raptor isn't thought of in star terms by most league observers, but his ability to create positive plays with virtually no negative ones is a vastly underrated asset. Calderon's true shooting mark of 62.2 is second only to Steve Nash, and he's first among all point guards in the percentage of possessions he uses that result in an assist.

Best of all, he has one of the lowest turnover ratios at his position, resulting in five dimes for every miscue. All of which makes Calderon an incredibly effective offensive player even though he doesn't take a lot of shots.

29. Rasho Nesterovic, Toronto Raptors

You might think of Rasho as just another generic big guy, but he's quietly put together two very solid seasons in Toronto. In fact, the Raptors probably acted about 70 games too late when they put Nesterovic into the starting lineup ahead of Andrea Bargnani Thursday night; Rasho has badly outplayed him this season.

30. Carlos Delfino, Toronto Raptors

The last of the sizable Argentine contingent on this list, Delfino nosed out Sasha Vujacic, Kelenna Azubuike, Beno Udrih, Linas Kleiza, Boris Diaw, Fabricio Oberto and Nenad Krstic for the final spot in the top 30. Though he's only hitting 39.6 percent from the floor, his true shooting percentage is actually decent because he hits 48.5 percent on 3s and takes nearly half his shots from out there. Additionally, he's a quality defender and ball handler -- a rarity once you get this far down the list.

Is Duncan really an international player?

Afterall he's from the US Virgin Islands, played at Wake Forest, plays for the US National team...

I'm shocked and delighted that Delfino made it over Diaw and that Jose is number 8.

LOL, Delfino isnt even close to Diaw. Diaw should be about where Nene is since Nene doesnt even play anymore. Besides that the list looks pretty good besides Ginobili being infront of Yao. As good as Ginobili is he isnt better than Yao.

I though it was pretty weird Diaw wasnt there. He is not having his best year but I supose he is doing better than Wally Szczerbiak.

Ginobili > Yao

The guy does it all and Yao can't even make it through a full season.

Yao averages 25+10 on 53% and teams cant score in the paint with him in there. If he stopped playing in the offseason he'd nearly make it through an entire year. Yao>Gino

But he's never in the paint because he's always hurt and when he's not hurt he's still not there because he's always winded and barely makes it up and down the court. Also if Nene is penalized for not playing because of testicular cancer then Yao is too for being hurt.

Gino's been an integral part of a Gold Medal team, NBA Championships...we're all googoogaga over Calderon for coming off the bench for the betterment of the team, but he's been doing this for years . Ginobli's intense, plays good D, can create for himself and others, get to the hoop. The dude does everything...

dont let a small stretch fool you in2 thinking that, houston is a pretty deep team this year, but to suggest in the long run and ESPECIALLY the playoffs they will be in better shape without a 25/10 middle clogging, shot blocking/altering monster, well i just cant see how any1 could think that.

i agree with your arguement about health. But thats the only reason Gino could be considered better. SA is just a crazy deep team and he can come in as 6th man and smoke other teams 2nd unit's, but i dont think he would be a star anywhere or could do that anywhere as a starter, dont get me wrong, he is a great player, but i think Yao is better

well, he slows them down tremendously, takes shots away from their best offensive players, and provides little on D and in rebounding that Deke can't handle.

that's why i think that. they're just as good without him right now... is he really the best in the league?

hmm, tmac is my fav player and i watch houston quite a bit. I dont see how he is taking shots away from ppl when he is scoring 20+ a game at a high percentage? And i definately dont consider his D to be weak in any way, he is great on help in the middle imo. They are definately playing well without him, adapted a different playing style and have a great coach and a pretty deep bench, but in the long run they will get bounced in the 1st round, cuz they wont have any1 to handle Timmy, Shaq, Amare, Bynum (if he is back, and i think he will be), Gasol etc etc and all the other bigs in the west. I really do think Yao is the best true C in the world, its a shame he cant stay healthy long enough to get the respect he deserves from the average fan, cuz im pretty sure he has it from the players and management around the league.

Seriously Deke?? lol he is playing well, but he is 100 years old!! You cant expect him to gobble up crazy min for an extended period.

Ming is 7'6 and he only grabs 10 rebounds and blocks 2 shots a game. And don't give me he alters shots and takes up space. He lacks the aggression and stamina to take his game to the next level.
