I'm at a loss for words. I really am.

I did not expect the Raptors to head out west and go 0-4. I certainly didn't expect the team to go winless for the week following their thrilling near-win in LA. In spite of the letdown against Philly last Sunday, Toronto had appeared to exorcise its demons in a hard fought battle against the Lakers.

However, instead of building on a positive, the Raps came apart at the seams in Sacramento and Golden State and after their 5th straight loss - last night in Portland - there is precious little time to sew it back together. There would seem to be more than one "issue" right now -- including things like the lack of ball movement at times on the offensive end -- but the greatest concern for me is defence and rebounding. Yes, the best of the best defenders can claim to possess a skill that nobody else has, but more often than not defence is about hustle and a willingness to compete like every play may be your last one. Ditto for rebounding. How badly do you want that board? Are you willing to box-out, dive into the stands, or get dirty on the floor?

The Raptors did those things for 30+ games from early December to mid-February. But why those traits have seemed to disappear is beyond me.

However, if the switch was flicked once already this season - after Toronto's 7-13 start - is it too much to ask (or expect) that that light be turned on again?

Was I the only one who totally expected them to lose the next three after the Lakers? They're delicate.

Well, I figured they would too, but part of me also held on to a little bit of optimism that they might grab one or two.

What I enjoyed from the Lakers game was all the stops down the stretch. That carried into the Sactown game, and then the third quarter hits and they can't stop anything. Being delicate didn't explain that. And losing to GS and Portland, although expected, came about with some good stretches of play.

Remember when these guys commonly came back from double-digit deficits? They weren't so delicate then. It's hard to imagine how they were able to do it so often, and just what changed so drastically.

You shoulda been like me and threw out the optimism long time ago. They always try for one game, aka Lakers one, everyone gets happy and then they play shit the next game xD

the GS game was the ONLY game i could see us winning, and even then i was betting the GS warriors would destroy us because of our lack of effort.

as for the portland game, there was no doubt we would lose again. calling out players on the Raptors doesn't work because everyone just ignores you.
