Default Efes World Cup -- Croatia:82, Türkiye:77

Before the Euro championship which will take place in September in Poland, the two teams faced each other in the friendly tournament in Ankara/Türkiye.

Hedo's stats: 17 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal in 30:21 minutes.

I didn't like his game as he sometimes tried to play the hero and forced difficult shots which I believe is not his game.

In the meantime, Roko Ukic scored 16 points and dished 9 assists. He made 3 of 4 3p attempts which was surprising. He played heluva game IMO.

I'll just keep repeating to myself "Roko had no room on our team" to make the pain go away

You'd better ask our very uniquely styled coach Tanjevic. They don't get along well with him. I don't really know what he's been doing with the talent he has. I don't know if you watched the game but Türkiye couldn't even punish Croatia's permanent ball pressure by attacking but they rather settled for a half-court game, thanks to the brilliant coach.

thing is, i've read and heard that he's really worked on his shot after last year and it looks like he's greatly improved it.

I totally think we gave up on him too early. I guess we'll just have to hope Amir Johnson brings what we need him to.

Roko had a great opportunity to demonstrate what he could do for the Raps at summer league, but instead he played passively and allowed Douby to steal his thunder. If the kid doesn't have the mentality necessary to fight for his job then he'll end up having a short stay in the NBA. Nice guys finish last.

I agree that he could easily look better. But even with an improved shot, he's probably a backup in the NBA. His comfort level here as opposed to the game in Europe is starkly different. We shouldn't feel like we've lost a gem. But I am pulling for him to do something in this league yet.

Tanjevic is a moron. His player selection and rotation in the game is incredibly stupid. Just look at our centers. Only Omer Asik has the ability to contribute. The others (Oguz, Semih and Fatih) are as good as phone poles. Even 34 year old Huseyin Besok is better than them.
And why didn't he call Serkan Erdogan, Kaya Peker, Okur or Mirsad to the team? Because he has personal issues wit them and old-man stubbornness. What a professional!
He definitely looks like poor man's Sloan to me. Maybe even worse.

What held Roko back is that he isn't satisfied being a role player with a relatively minor role at that. He consistently looked for his own shot ahead of players like Bosh. He's a confident player.

If Roko found his way to a team like the Spurs or the Lakers or any coach who knows how to manage egos and more importantly keep guys like Roko hungry by actually rewarding someone with playing time when they earn it, Roko could become a good player on a good team.

He has great length and incredible ball handling skills, if he got to the point where he could just slow the speed of the game down a little he could be very effective.

i was there. ukic made 10 of his points in the first quarter, rest of the game he was just ok. hedo never got goin actually. he seemed tired to me, i think he's keeping himself for the championship. as it's been said before, team selection and rotation is really stupid. by the way, ilyasova was the best player, his rebounding is just crazy. he has improved a lot and i believe this year he'll be a solid player for the bucks.

last night i've had a chance to meet with the team at the airport, since i work there. and i talked with hedo for couple of minutes and took a photo with him, gotta say that he is a great man

yea it seems easily hedo hasnt been concentrated well for the tournament and also seems still tired physically, about okur and turkcan tanjevic is so right not lettin them participate to the team, okur is undisciplined selfish fat ass just thinkin his stats and playing like shootin guard cause of being afraid of battle under the rim and turkcan is two poled sharp blade who is sometimes cancer for the team or motivator for the win. Turkey is not as well organized as crotia or strong team so quarter final is big achievement for them, crotia is secret weapon for the tournament and they can easily make semi final may be go ahead. Roko Ukic is obviously gonna be missed by Raptors after being seen his performance in bucks, so athletic, long and fast, plus seems he has improved his 3 point shooting

at this point the Raptors have no time to wait for players to improve, especially at the PG position, getting jarrett jack basically meant roko wasn't going to get any minutes and we know what we're getting when we put jack on the court, roko is still a surprise even if did improve, we can't afford to risk on players at this point

but it is really all banks' fault, if he could've been moved then i'm pretty sure roko would've stayed in his position

That is not ean excuse. They lost their next game to Germany which has a bunch of bench caliber players. A true star wouldn't allow at least one of those losses. There is no such a thing to reserve yourself for a bigger thing coming.

What pain? I'm thrilled we didn't have room for him.
