Um, no ... They are too redundant. Davis plays like a center on O, but he can't defend centers. The perfect pair is with Andrea, that would have our two best bits getting the most playing time with jv subbing for most of the other minutes. Amir will see the court when he remembers he's not supposed to shoot long 2s and 3s, but to rebound, defend and play around the basket.

You are correct, thats why you don't see Val and Davis on the court together too often. They are similar players, and neither can draw a defender to the outside. At least Amir is capable of taking the outside shot, though it seems defenders are giving him that look.

If you had Davis and Val on the floor the paint would be very congested making it difficult for guys like lowry or derozan to get to the rim

Bargnani provides spacing for his teammates

Yes it's terrible having 2 players that defend the basket and 2 guys 2 offensive rebound because they don't get plays called for them. This game has 2 ends of the floor. Honestly...I can't disagree enough with your post and so does Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson.

Except Val and Davis aren't Olajuwon and Sampson

You need one guy who can offensive rebound and play near the basket, and another one to spread the floor. Davis and Val would have defenders sitting in the paint because they both operate near the basket. Welcome to a congested paint area. Goodbye driving lanes for Derozan and Lowry.

They both played close to the basket and both were excellent defenders and rebounders and they played together.

There is no reason Ed and Jonas cannot play together.

ED's win shares/48 mins, orating, drating, and just his overall efficiency are all really good so far this season.

There's only something like five guys with a better rebounding rate.

I have full confidence in Bargnani to get as much production in 12 mins offensively off the bench as in 40 mins starting, but piggybacking the other team's offense less time.
Look at it this way: 30+ mins of AB's ellusive D is enough to lose any game, but 12 mins might not be enough and you still get some 3 ball!

Aaron Gray had a great rebounding rate last year too. Ed's in great company.

Gotta take pride in snatching those easy Gimmy boards under the rim. It seperates the men from the boys.
