Default Ed Davis

Where do you see the guy next year? Is he a starter? Does he take minutes away from Amir? Or does Amir still get the bulk of the minutes? Since both are young, you really don't want to hurt either of their development. So, what do you think Ed's role is next year?

Should be the starter, no question. Played very well whenever he got minutes.

Starting, especially if he adds some size and works on his shooting/FT's.

As a starter this season and when playing 28+ mpg he was a double double player. If he's not our starting PF next season i'll be disapointed. IMO he has to not expect it but work for it and take the starting job if he wants. And if he wants it it's his to lose.

I see Ed starting for Amir sometime next season (not necessarily on opening night) . Amir's a professional guy, and I'm sure he would understand if they replace his spot in the starting line up. Especially if Bargnani is not traded, Ed Davis is a guy that can do the dirty work (defend, rebound). I'm not saying Amir can't, but I think Davis would eventually get to a point where he is simply better than AJ next season.

Ed > Amir any day of the week. I like Amir but Davis is the superior player therefore he should start.

Ed Davis is the second coming of JO. I don't know whether that is a good thing or bad thing.

EDIT: A left handed JO.

A very good thing unless he has the injury issues.

He already injured his knee and wore a brace over it.

Hopefully he won't be someone who will be plagued with injuries. That happened to his dad Terry Davis.

So, what happens to Amir. The guy worked on his jumper. Still rebounds well. Shoots a high FT% and cut down on fouls. And is what? 23? Is he now just 'chopped liver'. I think he played well to keep his starting job still.

I see your point. They are both very similar in terms of playing style and contribution to the team.

I like both of them, but redundancy is not a great thing for a basketball roster.

Why do we want to trade our good players so we constantly have a shitty bench? Amir would be great with the second unit. Just because he isn't starting doesn't mean he can't be an effective player.

In the long run, probably. A few years down the road, maybe one of two will eventually take the majority of the playing time. At that point it would be better to extract an asset instead of having someone waste their talents on the bench.

Cause right now, our team is kinda shitty? And if we can get more assets or assets than can move us further (and quicker) along, then why not look into it? Why do you seem to almost love every young player on this team (always?)

Amir is instant energy off the bench. If Jay knows whats best for the team, he'd start Ed over Amir and let AJ be the first big off the bench.

Amir and Ed are fantastic on the floor together. We need to get a real C for the D12's and Bogut's of the world, but the two of them make for a great frontcourt especially if Davis puts on 15-20 pounds and I wanna see them play lots of minutes together. As for who should start, beats me. All signs point to Ed, but does Amir deserve that?

Who says he's chopped liver? What's wrong with him coming off the bench for 25mpg, hell that's pretty close to all he can play anyway most nights since he's always in foul trouble. And to be honest, Ed Davis numbers were very comperable to Amir's, especially considering this was his first season, in which he missed training camp and all of November. He imo has more talent and plays a lot more controled/smarter then Amir and he's got what...65 games under his belt?

I see Amir as a guy that can be more of an undersized 5 in some situations. He could share time with Ed. One of Amir Davis or Bargnani gets squeezed out of minutes in any case. Or traded. Ed Davis has to start.

He didn't suffer from foul trouble for most of the season. He needs to get minutes. He's still getting better. It's time for the guy who is not getting any better to go and open things up.
