Ed Davis

Lets get some positive talk going on ed davis's game. The guy is getting more solid every game. His rebounding and shot blocking ability for a rookie is pretty good, and considering the minutes hes playing hes putting up some really solid numbers. His numbers have steadily improved each month (along with his min) and since Dec his FG hasn't fallen below 63%.

In the month of March he is averging over 5 games

10.8pts/1ast/9.4reb/1blk/ in 29min with 65.4% FG (66%FT 2.6 atempted a game)

He's becoming what I had wished Bosh would become.... it's impressive.

I said it earlier, his game is very reminiscent of Al Horford. Both entered into the league with poor mid range games, relied on garbage points and were both decent rebounders and defenders for rookies.

If he becomes a Horford type, I'd be very very pleased.

I'm very impressed wiith Davis. His demeanor on the coutt is impressive but it's his positioning, and intelligence is better then expected. He also seems very mature for his age and doesn't take many dumb fouls. I get the feeling when I watch him that it comes easy for him, like he could eventually be a 15/10/2blk player without breaking a sweat. Now all he has to do is continue to improve his mid range game and add 15+lbs and he'll be very solid. Can't wait to see what he does after this season in preparing for next season.

in general i'm really impressed with our young core bigs amir/ed
you can see the progression in their games from the start of the season til now and its drastic
just their jump shots alone are so much better

Claudius 03-12-2011 02:56 PM

meh, Amir is what he is. He has to work really, really hard to do simple things.

Is it a bit worrisome that his Twitter page wallpaper is still of him being @ UNC?
I never really thought of him being ecstatic when he was drafted by the Raptors. And then when he was in England last week and Leo was interviewing him about would he like to play in London if there was a franchise there...he flat out said no...maybe i'm reading a bit too much into it...but having a history of having draft picks leave...it's a bit of a concern.

It's easy for him in that he is able to stay a little ahead of the play on defense, like a short stop or a goalkeeper. He instinctively knows where he will need to be and what he will need to do if a,b or c happens, and let's muscle memory do the job for him. That kind of thing is only going to get better. If he doesn't need to process everything so much in his brain, then the muscle memory and instincts are just going to be further reinforced and improved. Adding to the ease of his game are great hands for a big man. He finishes so well around the basket and has the ability to be a good passer.

What I look forward to more than seeing what becomes of him after adding some weight, is seeing what he is able to do with his legs at 100 percent. I think we've only seen a fraction of his athleticism. In a way I think that might help him in the long run. It's forced him to let the game come to him a bit, and get him to be a little crafty in spots. If he puts everything together, including some improved footwork (which is already pretty good) the guy could be a really big impact player.

Its amazing the way he is playing. You could not ask for more right now from him. Came back from injury and just stepped in and played HIS GAME! All you can ask for. Build around him and DD. Also hope you can draft another player from his school in this year draft to add on to the building.

Very encouraging to see his offensive game starting to develop, if only slightly. Once he improves his right hand, he should average a couple more buckets a game. And of course, everybody already knows about his defensive prowess and potential.

He will also never be as good as bosh on offense.

With that said, he will be a defensive force in the NBA.

Hopefully i didn't jinx it!

He's not likely going to be a guy that gets isos run for him, but he could be a really key part of a halfcourt offense with those hands. He could be a very nice complimentary player that gets his own game going in spurts. That's basketball gold. And hopefully I didn't jinx it.

He's not the best offensive players, but he is very efficient.

Gets a lot of his points in the paint and off offensive boards.

Dude, you couldn't have said it better.... that is basketball gold.

Like a Udonis Haslem-type? Kendrik Perkins?

I'm pretty sure he's gunna be much better than those players. Despite the fact that Davis is on a losing team, he already puts up pretty similiar stats to those guys in his rookie year.

if we want players to stay we have to give them a reason, which is winning. if we continue to be mediocre by year 4/5 he will most likely be gone and so will most of our promising young players.
look @ minny, no way they keep love as the team they've build still looks like massive fail.

FoldedLaundry 03-12-2011 08:37 PM

Im loving how Ed is improving and developing. His jumper is getting there and is getting points from iso's rather than offensive boards and all. Im excited for next year for our young core. We just need a great Center for our team!

Minny looks good for the future. They won't win in less than a couple years but they have a great young core. Arguably one of the best. Love, Beasley, Flynn, Johnson, Randolph, Rubio, Mlicic, and another top 3 pick. Tolliver and Webster are ok too. I can see Love staying there with a 3 year extension.

MISAM38 03-12-2011 10:12 PM

He plays much better when he starts. Ppl hes only a rookie his Offensive will get better. Yes hes not gonna be Amare on Offense, but i think he will be better than bosh. Just has to work harder and hell be there. Not to mention his defense will get much better than it already is.
