Future, the same GM that came in the first season and declared his team was good enough to make the playoffs, the same GM that traded two first rounders for a one way streaky player at the begining when he should have been rebuilding properly? Give me a break. The double standard is insane. Last season the Raptors missed the playoffs by 1 game and everyone was calling for heads to roll, this season the loafs will end up what...10th, 11th? and people are thrilled about them playing well for 6 weeks and are declaring they will be playoff bound next season. lol

LOL. You have to be realistic. As I mentioned earlier, look at what you are dealing with. There are 2 ways up. Stink for a long time and hope your picks pan out or spend money. Anything else is throwing things at the wall and hoping something sticks.....just hovering around bad to above average. They brought Colangelo in here to turn average money into top level results while competing against top level money. Those kind of GMs are all over the league and how many of them win consistently...or win executive of the year awards for that matter.

If you can't get Kevin Prichard, you re-sign BC!

You evaluate on results, not on fan buy-in.

And the reason why I think Burke is building is because Leafs are the youngest or 2nd youngest team in the league, with a good farm and guys on the roster that are yet to approach their prime and some are rookies like Reimer who looks legitimate, Aulie, and Kadri.

Can the same be said for the Raptors? Probably... they have a young roster with DD, Ed, JJ, Bayless as good players to build around even if 2 of them may just be bench players. A high draft pick (albeit in a weak draft) but I just don't trust BC. His willingness to keep Bargnani bugs me. He hired Triano... who is just fail. Sure, he doesn't have exactly have a good roster but how about playing in a proper system... you know where you actually play defense? Bucks play excellent defense with a bunch of nobodies on their roster while we give up 105 points per game. On top of that, we play in a high tempo game when you have players that don't even bother to at least get back on defense.

This is why BC needs to go. Bring in a proper coach that emphasizes defense and gets his players to play in a good system. Bargnani needs to go too.
i agree with you to a certain extent. but BC i believe was trying to keep things cheap with the triano move. cheap coach, more return for the head honcho upstairs. BC was looking to please the men that pay him. i believe, for now, triano is fine, as long as Bargnani goes because currently he is the onlyone that doesnt give a shit on D. people are trying, and getting better(see Demar, JC(to a certain extent), Amir). BC is a smart man, both for basketball, and getting payed.

Yea but you can't really say he didn't try to improve this team. All those moves were logical and it is unfortunate that it didn't work out.

We needed an inside presence, he got JO.
It didn't workout, he got shawn marion which got us Turk who was going to be the "wing scorer" we needed.

But at least he has fixed his mistakes. And that is one good quality about BC.

If BC goes this rebuild is fucked. It'll add at least 2 years to the rebuild (if we're lucky).

As to BC's under the radar moves - he's been on the negative side of some of those. We traded Kris Humphries for a guy that isn't in the league now. We traded Bonner for a guy that ended up being a support system for Bargnani. As much as I like Amir, a guy like Delfino can be quite valuable. And there have been so many wing players that didn't amount to anything that it's quite painful, so losing Delfino really takes some of the shine off of gaining Amir.
-Humphries was in the Hedo trade, so I'm not sure what you're going on about.

-The Delfino trade was highway robbery by us IMO. We got the best player in the deal IMO (Amir), we traded small for big, and we got them to throw in a promising wing player who was playing well earlier in the season.

Delfino is a nice player and plays some good defense, but he's a 13ppg swingman who shoots 40%.

I agree that the defense has been disappointing.

BC would rather retool than rebuild. Remember, we are tanking by default. BC had his eyes set on the playoffs this year when he traded for Chandler/Diaw. Luckily, Jordan nixed that deal, which probably would've made us a fringe playoff contender.

The rebuild need not be rushed. I just hope BC, should he stick around, remains loyal to the painstakingly slow process. Venture forth with youth, at the expense of winning, and compile high picks.

I thank that trade was just too good to pass up and it'd of definitely helped the rebuild because we'd be getting rid of Jose's contract while giving us a real C (with expiring contract).
