Dwayne Casey's Attitude!

So I was watching Raptors TV and while an interview with Dwayne Casey. He mentioned that him and BC do not do what is best for themselves in keeping the job. But rather what is best for the future of the organization.

Hearing him say that, just made me think that he really wants to work hard to develop this team, rather than talking to BC in getting 1 player just so they can make the playoffs to keep everyone satisfied rather than winning the championship.

I guess hence the reason they chose Jonas V.

And thoughts?

I doubt this draft had any rookies who could make this team a playoff team once more next year already, i think it was smart move in this weak draft in hopes of geting high pick next year, and if JV can fill that 5 spot in couple of years that would benefit this team no doubt. Im excited tbh

I love what both are doing and saying and it looks like both are on the same page in trying to do things right. Colangelo hired a defensive minded coach, has accumulated young talent, just drafted a defensive minded Center and has 45Mil commited to 10 players next season and 39Mil in 2012-13. Which, if the last proposal from the owners of a 62Mil hard cap is any indication of what will happen gives us flexibility the next two offseasons to add hopefully the right pieces to our young core. I'm excited to see what we can do the next couple years. Hopefully I'm not disapointed

Next thing for him to remember - if there is a season to be played, it is OK to lose.

How will a hard cap even be possible? Did miami not just sign 3 plays to 20+ million dollar contracts (well it will be 20 million each in like 2 more seasons) does this mean miami will have:

Bosh/
Lebron/
Wade/
/
/

As a team? A hard cap wont be possible until A. all current contracts have expired
B. Players and their contracts are re worked to take the hit of the nba's caps. Ie they will recieve money for the NEW max contract of the hard cap era

The hard cap is obviously going to prevent people from creating super teams like the Heat did. If there is a hard cap then the Heat will face some tough decisions and will have to split up the big three. The hard cap is great because it gives every team a chance to compete, not just the same teams every year going to the finals.

I think if they implement a hard cap it won't count towards current contracts. That's why so many teams with big time players wanted to sign there players before the new rules. Besides, if the league has to wait until all current contracts expire, then it can never implement a hard cap because players sign new contracts all the time.

OR they can start the hardcap off high and make it lower each year AND lower the max salary so teams can't abuse the system while they are waiting for the current contracts to expire.

Can't do that because players contracts increase every year not decrease.
