Default Duhon as a Raptor? (Hypothetical Scenario)

Hypothetically speaking, if you know you could acquire someone like Duhon to say back-up someone like Ford, would you then be open to dealing Jose elsewhere to fill one of our bigger areas of weakness? Or are most Raptor fans adamant about Jose being our future PG and therefore he is untouchable?

I mean, although Ford's only played minimal minutes I'm impressed that he's been looking to pass before shooting which wasn't his approach prior to the injury. I mean, maybe after watching Jose during that month and a half has really opened up his mind and now sees things in a different light here in Toronto meaning that in the long run Ford might be better for the team. Even if that means we have to part ways with Jose only to get stronger in other areas and become more balanced. (if that makes any sense)

Anyhow, the reason why I mention Duhon is because he again is the talk of trades in Chicago and I know is a good back-up PG.

Thoughts?

Duhon acknowledged thinking about his future "all the time."

I don't know, but we're missing something here in Toronto. I'm just not sure what it is. I just find it hard to see this current roster take things to the next level. It's the same "potential" card that we've been holding on for years now and maybe I'm just growing impatient with the growing up process.

Remember when Babcock signed Duhon to an offer sheet a couple of years ago? It was a favour to Billy Duffy, but I wouldn't have minded him being here one bit. The only way I'd advocate trading Jose is if BC can absolutley rape a team...players that fill needs, prospects, picks....(yes, I know it's not going to happen that way).

Hey, anything is possible. Look what Thorn did to us with Vince (eventhough I hold Vince the most accountable) and what the Lakers just did to the Grizz with Pau.

and after trading Jose we would be missing a PG.

I agree, something aint right....we look alot like Phoneix did....they didnt win squat with the shooters...so they went and got Shaq.

I can't believe I'm saying this but do you think the Clips would take a look at a Bargs for Kaman....of course with some filler for salary.

True, but don't forget which conference they play in. We're underachieving in the "Leastern Conference".

They might laugh at us unless that filler is say someone like Jose. Bargs improvement in the last 2 weeks, still doesn't help his value on the market just yet. If this is what we see from him for the remainder of the season then maybe, but too premature right now. JMO :cheeky-smiley-013:

I believe as long as TJ stays with Toronto, they will always need Jose around. TJ is always going to be one stinger away from his career being over.

If you trade Jose away and TJ happens to goes down, I wouldn't want Duhon as our starting pg.

IMHO, we need both Jose and TJ here together. Don't be impatient, they are all young and getting better, even Bargs. Its really just the consistency thats lacking. Realistically, we have to look at improving each year until we're ready for primetime to go all the way, which I estimate will be in 2010 if we steadily improve parts of our roster, get some more playoff experience and everyone reaches their expected potential.

We need to keep the core of this team intact and keep building our team chemistry. We WILL be serious contenders in 2010.

The different between phoenix and us is that they had reach their top. We have A LOT LOT LOT to improve yet, I dont think we need to make any trade yet, just wait this team to develop.

Great post....except the pipe dream of TJ and Jose together will have to be put to rest soon.

I think its possible, but some small changes may need to take place. Maybe if TJ could play some SG at times. Of course it would depend on the opponent and matchups, but he could do it. Its not like we have a lock on who plays the 2 when Parker sits down. However, it does raise questions about TJ's willingness to assume a different role and how well Jose and TJ can play together. Jose was a diamond in the rough. We should take advantage of this and find a way that we can get the best out of Jose and TJ to contribute to the team. Ultimately, I think it will depend on how creative the coach will be to finding a solution to keep them both happy and productive.

I just dont think we'll get over "that" hump with Moon as our starting SF.
Seriously this guy jumps around like an idiot, never drives, thinks he can shoot BUT HE CANT!
Now we have a LOT of value on this team.
Your right I think Jose did open BC's eyes and Bc said it himself Jose will be a raptor next year. I think raptor fans have seen enough, from a loss to the sonics and getting sweeped by the LA Clippers.
I say make up your mind between Jose and TJ, now i believed in keeping both b4 seasons start... but my confidence in Jose just grew.
We could have a new BIG 3 and make Jose the compliment to it.
But still, this all seems so difficult, Ford is just way to good to let go...
unless you can get someone like
JOSH SMITH in a sign+trade...
yess yes im dreaming

Moon will be dealt soon, im hoping he wins the dunk contest and some idiot team trying to fill seats gives us a sweet deal invovling moon and FORD.... to say you want to stick with a guy that is one hard foul away from not being about to walk again is insane, you have to stick with Jose and his impressive numbers are kind of like a young nash, his shooting # from everywhere is insane, his dimes to turnover ratio is unreal.... trading a guy doing all this at 25 is trading a future allstar and maybe HOF.

As for "toronto is missing something, but i dont know what it is"... sorry lol i dont think it takes a genius to figure out what we are missing, rebounds, defensive presence and toughness, any trade BC does i guarantee will bring us those 3 things.

I realize that and I've been saying that long before you became a member here at RF. But my problem is, then if a big man is what you need, do you part with either Bosh or Bargnani and find a Reggie Evans (just an example) to throw into the frontcourt rotation or go out there and score a bigger named player to fill those voids?

Well, ive said in a few threads that im more then willing to move Barg, Ford, Graham, moon and one of either Delfino/Kapono in exchange for a quality big man and a serviceable back up PG... but saying that doesnt make it easy to find the right kind of deal either (btw i dont mean trading them all for this, but a combo of some of them is fine with me. I feel we have way too many jump shooters and can afford to lose a couple, unless they decide that Ford is our guy (which imo is a mistake) then he is expendable, if not i guess you gotta move Jose (which would make me )...

But i think its just as likely BC sits on his hands til the off season and see's what develops if theres any nice FA's or RFA's out there or any disgruntled players we can get on the cheap, realistically we could get a big man with exactly what we need this year and not go deep in the playoffs, we dont have experience and we would still rely heavily on the jump shot, i really dont see us standing any reasonable chance vs Detriot and i think Cleveland is on the rise and their size and rebounding will be too much for us
