If he's a center player, that would add one more reason for passing him on the draft. We got Valanciunas, who was projected to be top 3 pick in this draft, if he decided to join this year. Having Drummond on the roster will limit the opportunity for Valanciunas and I would HATE to see that happen.

Wanna talk about co-existence of Drum and Val? D-V lineup might be a beast lineup (They are both physical and young), but what about our offense? Are we giving up our big men offense for next several years? Think about our offense rating from last year. We don't need a defensive threat in PF position.

We ain't got nothing to worry about our Big men roster. So, let's focus more on SG-SF lineup (who will start, and who gets more minutes..) I would love to see Ross-DD lineup where DD plays as a starting SF and have Fields to back up both positions.

Did you see how DET's frontline absolutely MAULED our "bigs" last night?

We have ONE "legit" big man right now.... ONE. And that's Gray. Val might be another (hopefully he is for our sakes).

Every other "big" on the roster is damn near useless unless we're playing a team with a small lineup.

Guys like Amir and Ed Davis don't have a chance in hell against guys like Monroe, Maxiell and Drummond.

If we passed on Drummond because we supposedly "already had too many bigs here".... then we made a HUGE mistake.

1) dog...how do you even...what the...your definition of "legit" is Aaron Grey? Oh, "legit" in your eyes is big, white, slow and uncoordinated?

2) this is so wrong...Amir has had a ton of success checking guys bigger than him, both in terms of height and weight, Ed has been decent on D, and we know even Bargs can be good straight up. Useless? Sheeit...that's weak.

Basically what I have deduced from your post is that Chris Bosh is both a) "not legit" and b)"useless."

Gray has been playing pretty well. Drummond and Monroe did look good, however Knight, Stuckey, and Bynum were carving up the defense last night. Raptor players are scrambling and rotating, Detroit big men cutting to the basket and getting close, high percentage shots or grabbing and capitalizing on second chance points. Gotta see this team with Lowry and not watching opposing point guards just breakdown the defense.

Ok, except Drummond is bigger and faster than grey, and plays like amir. If you folks don't see this as a good thing, than I cant help you. The knock on Drummond was his motivation.... he looked plenty motivated last night, and from what you hear and read, the Pistons are pretty ecstatic abou this effort level thus far.

no doubt, he's bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic than amir, can't dispute that especially after last night.

but amir's had success in the past against howard, hibbert, monroe, etc. and saying our big men are useless because they're not 7-foot tree trunks is ludicrous. amir is one of the most effective and willing hustle bigs in the league, well, at least when he's not hungover like he seemed to be last night. this guy gives up 30+ pounds and 3-4 inches on any given night and still brings it.

Since he hasn't played a real NBA game yet i'll reserve judgement.

Again, liking Drummond is not knock on current players, just recognition of his quality, size and potential. Our team was close to last last year, the current players...NONE are really stars. Any projected allstar is something to covet, and when he is 7 foot, 270 and quick as a cat...well to me that a no brainer.

Tru enough, it WAS only the Raptors, thus, not a real challenge.

It was pre-season, don't care who it was against. Means nothing whatsoever. This guy was projected to be a top 3 player (1st overall for awhile), obviously there are reasons people were passing on him. Namely attitude and laziness (another Cousins?). The only thing i will say is that on draft night the guy was pissed off for falling so maybe he's motivated to prove something, if so how long will that last is the main question.

1) Gray isn't a star.... and never will be.... but what he IS is a guy who knows how to play his position and use his size effectively. He's a guy who can set some bone-crushing picks and take up space under the rim. THAT's what most people want from a big man unless you have a guy who's just dynamite on offense. He had 7 rebs and a block in only 18 min last night. Didn't look spectacular doing it.... but he was effective.

2) I like Amir. Always have.... but he's this team's version of JYD. Plays with a lot of energy most nights... has a lot of heart.... but at the end of the day he's often physically overmatched at his position and has to end up taking more risks (fouls) to make up for it.

As much as I know people love when I discuss Bosh I really have desire to bring him into the conversation today.

For a rookie C in his first NBA game be it pre season against 3 7 footers & 2 pretty good defending PF's in Amir & Davis I would say that is pretty damn good!
