I have a quick story about andre Drummond, on draft night I was in NYC, I saw him at about 1230-1ish coming back form the draft. We were at the tims by time square and he was entering his hotel room, had a quick chat with him. I told him we were from Canada he sd he loved Toronto when came here, he sd wanted to come here. But overall, he sd he was excited to play for the piston sd Manroe reached out to him the first night. I wanted to ask more question but he sd he needed some sleep as he had early flight... he is tall dude but he seems very skinny at the time. He is a baller though

Monroe is a great passer. Those two will be a nightmare for many years. Monroe is a legit 6'11 weighing 270 pounts at only 19 years. He's going to be a center. He'll be getting all his points through put backs and alley oops. If we drafted Jonas the year before, their games would be redundant. However, can you imagine trying to drive the lane with Drummond and Jonas clogging the middle.

That said, I'm a big fan of Ross. He moves well with and without the ball and I think he's a better fit for this team in the short and long term.
This is what I remember of Drummond is that sometimes he'd look like the best player on the court and sometimes he'd disappear.

I figured if he was on the Raptors, then JV's work ethic and drive would transfer to Drummond and they would have an epic battle for the starting position.

Drummond/JV centers and JL3 as backup SG. That doesn't sound too bad to me.

This is why I set the personal message under my name to what it is. I really wanted us to take Drummond and I'm extremely worried he'd turn out to be a defensive beast.

Thing is, he does have offensive skills as his jumper isnt bad and hes a pretty good passer. Once he learns the faceup game and maybe gets a move or two with his back to the rim, it wont look good for BC, again.

You should not pass on athletic freaks with as much talent as Drummond has. Everyone said hes a moron, but he doesnt look like one on the court nor sound like one in in interviews. His bball IQ is higher than where most people thought it was just judging by yesterdays game. He was extremely quick to rotate yesterday to the right spot.

Ahhh, the insecurities of a fanbase for a losing team. The sky is always falling and somehow someone always comes back to "haunt us". Lol

We desperately lacked in the long range. BC goes out and drafts that guy who is definitely no kopono because he Plays awesome d too. Ross was the right pick given our team structure. Both these guys are potential all stars in the future and the talent dropoff isnt nearly as big as some people make it seem. Twas the right pick, again, by BC. You can take a lot of shots against BC but drafting isn't one of them.

Hahhh, it amazes me that you thought he'd be a bust but based on one pre-season game where he scored most of his points in the first half when our defense was swiss cheese. The fickleness of sports fans today is always about the now. If he had a shit game last night people would have been thanking their lucky stars we hadn't taken him. An opinion that would have had as muchcrdibility as last nights has. It's one game people. Look at Blake Griffin and now everyone thinks he's overrated, a year ago he was the bees knees.

One game and it's a big panic "oh lord did we make a mistake". Better change my personal message, we're fucked. Lol

Lots of history, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Igoudala, Aldridge, Rudy Gay...With the exception of McGrady leaving via free agency, these were bad mistakes made by the front office which is evident with our annual trip to the Draft Lottery in Secacus.

Easy boss man lol,

Anyway I'm not bassing it on points,I don't just read the box score. I liked his hustle,I think he could play well with Monroe as a starter some day. I feel he's in a good system under Frank. He's very active. I didn't expect much from him but he impressed me. Also,I said I think now he can be a solid contribitor instead of a bust..its not like I'm saying he'll be an all-star or franchise player lol. Its all good though.

You guys need to relax.... remember when you all thought Davis was better than Monroe? Things can change and even the things that seem so destined aren't even a given.

wth? you see a guy play in 1 preseason game against a Raptors team that is also in preseason and now you're going crazy over him and think BC is all wrong?

besides, nobody said BC didn't want him, we have a crap load of bigs and in need of swingmen, so we drafted ross, who's to say if the positions were reversed we wouldn't have drafted drummond

The Raptors didn't do a great job of tanking, and still had a shot at a guy like this, and didn't take that shot. I'm going to really need to fall in love with Terrence now.
Exactly how I feel. Appreciating what we saw from Drummond is only us being rational, it doesn't mean we hate Ross, it doesn't mean we hate JV. Hell, I love Ross, he might be a great player one day, but man, you can't teach massive, and you can't teach fast as hell. That kid blocked a shot last night at the top of the box, well, above, and his hand was on top of the ball when he did it. Now I can tell you from experience how high that is...its fucking huge.

I agree with many here, it's way early to make big conclusions, but if what we saw last night is a glimpse of things to come...look out man.

ps. for all of you griping about it being JV, or Ross's first game....what the f%$&@ do you think it was for Drummond. Every Rook in the league starts in the same place, please don't ever drop those lame excuses ever again, it's kinda weak.

If they had drafted him they would have Drummond at 5 and JV at 4 and it would be absolutely awesome in a couple years.

Anyone who thinks that Griffin is overrated is a moron.

22/12/4 in his rookie season (51% FG)
21/11/3 in his second season (55% FG)

And he's already an all-star.

I WISH that we had an "overrated" player like that on our team.

Back when we drafted Haffa we had a crap load of wing players and no Centers.... yet that didn't stop everyone from screaming that we should've taken Iggy because he was the BPA.

You can live with a little "immaturity" from Drummond because he's 19... When a guy is a legit 7fter, is athletic and close to 300lbs (without being fat) you don't pass on that. You just don't.

Again... no hate towards Ross.... but he'd have to become a Ray Allen/Reggie Miller type shooter to make me feel better about this.

meh, people call Griffin over rated, but thats because they compare him to other all stars and they are watching him in th playoffs...its funny. When your team is even a little significant, you can start calling out guys like griffin...doing it now is silly.

I called out his dunk competition, his actual play...fuck man, he's a monster.

I don't know why people are so angry about not picking Drummond.
We already got enough PFs on our roster - Barg, Davis, Amir, and Acy.
Assuming we are still going to keep our ace player, Barg, on the roster, we simply do not have much playing time for Andre Drummond. I wouldn't even consider Drummond as a second unit in PF line, as we have Ed Davis who still has a room to grow.

Now, if you want to argue about picking Drummond and trading Ross + @, I would say it is another risk. What if Ross was picked by a team that doesn't need PF? We would have missed Ross from this draft.

Dude, are you being serious?

The guy is a massive center, he wouldnt be worrying about PT behind the undersized stiffs on the raptors, holy monkey man.
