heh, funny thing happens when you leave college, grow up, and work with professional men. Drummond will be just fine.

i'm not sure if it's the same people i see bringing it up, but there was never any issues with harden's athleticism, nor was he ever projected to be anything less than a star coming out of college. ross is a shooter who plays off the ball, there's really no comparisons between their games.

I don't follow college/draft very closely, but I definitely remember Harden's athleticism perhaps not being up to par and that being a reason for his draft position.

You may be right, but whatever. Listed on his draft profile to verify such claims were the following weaknesses concerning his game that had to at least stand out to some. It doesn't matter though.

Quote:
- Mid-range game - Turnover prone - Ball-handling skills w/either hand - Limited upside? - Unorthodox style - Average athleticism - Average size - Ability to shoot off the dribble
From DraftExpress.com DraftExpressProfile: James Harden, Stats, Comparisons, and Outlook

That pretty much sums up the consensus of Harden at the time. There was no talk of a star stud coming out of college.

^Thats what I remember, he was regarded as one of the more polished players but wasn't hyped as a stud.

albeit not the strongest draft class, harden went 3rd overall and was projected at that range all season long. had he been a superior athlete, it probably wouldn't have effected much at all going behind blake griffin.

athleticism might have been mentioned about in a scouting report when talking about his weaknesses, but his game isn't built on (jumping/speed) athleticism, that's why he was such an intriguing prospect that was alway being compared to manu.

i'm not sure where you guys are getting this idea that he wasn't projected to be a star. the dude was hyped all season long. his success isn't a surprise.
