Default The drama behind DeMar

Interesting old article about the people and issues behind DeMar's b-ball career:

wow he has been through alot with this, as well as his mother being sick i can understand why he struggled but now that he is with Raptors he is in canada and gets the money to support his mother so his only goal is the play hard now

That is a crazy amount of drama! I hope it doesn't follow him here. The article had a lot to say about people around him, but it didn't really address him directly in any depth.

I also wonder how he'll handle the transition not only to the NBA, but also to playing in a city far away and in another country. In this vein, I was struck by the part of the article where they described his decision to go to USC:

Quote:
And maybe he was never leaving home either. Not with his mother suffering from Lupus. Not with his father having suffered a stroke in 2004. Not with a chance to play at a university 10 minutes from his home and in front of his family.

“At the end of the day, I wanted to pick [a school] where I was comfortable, and this is the only place I was comfortable,” DeMar said.
He'll be making an NBA salary and, as he said, that will go a long way to helping his parents. I still wonder, though...

Yeah I Master P is a hustler. I remember reading that before. Lil Romeo couldn't get a scholarship because he sucks but when your rich ass dad is fronting the bill for you and your highly recruited friend it is easy to get him to co-sign for you.

Well I hope Demar does well in the NBA.

He'll bolt from here as soon as he can.

Mind you, i'm kidding... but at the same time, DD's characteristics have "bolting from Toronto" written all over him.

this post was not to be taken too seriously. We'll tackle that bridge once we get to it.
