Draft Position Thread - "the tank tracker"
Well, there's not too much else worth following at this time of year, but the ( maybe soon to be not) Kings have gone 6-4 over their last 10 games, potentially giving up the 4 spot in the draft...dependent on what happens in the last 9 games.

The Kings are now 1 full game ahead of the Raptors.

Raptors 20-53
Kings 21-52

Toronto 20 53 .274 36 14-22 6-31 4-9 12-31 99.3 105.6 -6.3 Lost 4 3-7
Sacramento 21 52 .288 35 10-27 11-25 6-8 12-31 99.3 104.4 -5.1 Won 4 6-4

Remaining games:

TORONTO schedule

vs. MIL
vs. ORL
vs. CLE
vs. NJ
vs. MIA

vs. DEN
vs. UTAH
@ SA
@ GS
vs. OKC
vs. LAL

Predictions? Discussion? Let's go Kings?

EDIT - I figured I'd all the other teams that we're in "competition" with, just in case...

Cleveland - 15-58

Mar 30 - @Char
@ NY
vs. CHAR
vs. WAS

Minnesota - 17-57

vs. CHI
vs. MIA
@ NJ
vs. PHO
vs. HOU

Washington - 18-55

vs. MIA
vs. CLE
vs. DET
vs. ATL
vs. BOS

New Jersey - 23-50

@ NY
vs. MIA
vs. MIN
vs. NY
vs. CHAR

Sac's got a much harder schedual, I see us finishing a game ahead of them or tied.

jrob23 03-30-2011 01:01 AM

honestly only game i think we'll win is vs CLE.. maybe vs MIA if they rest their key players

i can see SAC possibly beating UTAH, Houston & GS

Continue TankFest :cookie:

I've been watching this closely, too. Hopefully the Kings can continue their roll.

It's possible but not likely that the Wizards could run up a couple games too.

Minnesota has an absurdly hard schedule going forward, nothing doing there. Cleveland is Cleveland, even with the Miami win they still have no shot at overtaking us.

I would never want my team to intentionally tank (because that is completely lame) but there's nothing to be gained by picking up a couple wins here or there. Even a few % points more towards a #1 or #2 pick would be great.

Good to see that teams have seeding stuff to fight for in our remaining schedule so they'll still be going strong; Milwaukee's looking to edge into the playoffs and Chicago/Miami are fighting it out for the #1 seed so there'll likely be no sitting of the starters/laying off there. NY and PHI are looking to improve their seeding as well.

jrob23 03-30-2011 01:43 AM

I just checked Washington's schedule and there is chance they will pass us as well

hopefully Boston will have its seed locked in and rest some players for the 2nd last game

I hope we play hard but lose ...

jeffb 03-30-2011 06:44 AM

3-6 - We'll finish with the 5th worst record.

LX 03-30-2011 06:52 AM

nice idea DSWC.:yeah:

I was hoping maybe the Kings had the tie-breaker, but they won by 3 and we beat them by 6, so I guess not.

Just keep losing baby.

js12 03-30-2011 07:54 AM

Yeah, SAC has a tougher schedule.

A lot of those teams are still fighting for playoff positioning, and won't rest their players.

Some of our games vs. "elite teams" will probably be easier than usual with player resting.

The tie breaker after head-to-head is not point differential, but division winning percentage. Sacramento has a better in division record, so we lose the tie breaker, and pick first, in the case of a tie. Depending on how the rest of the season goes.

DanH 03-30-2011 08:06 AM

For the record, the tie breakers are as follow:

(1) Division leader wins tie from team not leading a division
(2) Head-to-head won-lost percentage
(3) Division won-lost percentage
(4) Conference won-lost percentage
(5) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, own conference
(6) W-L Percentage vs. Playoff teams, other conference
(7) Net Points, all games

my bets are we'll end up in fifth. our schedule is a lot easier compared to sacramento's, who play a bunch of teams still fighting for playoff positioning.

jeffb 03-30-2011 11:43 AM

You do realize it's a lottery right?

it's what i was thinking ! LOL !

sprocket 03-30-2011 11:51 AM

lol, obviously it's a lottery. Sorry, I should have said '4th lottery spot'.
And I suppose firmly is a little strong, but we've got potential to stick it out!

DSWC 03-30-2011 12:20 PM

I thought that the tie-breaker for teams with the same records was decided by a coin flip? I remember we won the coin flip one year (Against Philly?) and lost another year to Memphis.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought the tie-breaker for the coin flip meant one team got one (a couple of?) extra ping pong ball (s)

komot 03-30-2011 01:03 PM

after the kings were given a free gift in marcus thorton, i see them going 3-6 and raps going 1-8 possibly 2-8. they are starting to put their pieces together and cousins has stopped whining so much.
