Talking Draft Express: Evans & Harden falling

Quote:
With Rubio locked up at three, we can probably move our attention to Sacramento, where Jonny Flynn and Tyreke Evans are clearly the top two candidates on the board.

If Jonny Flynn is the choice as expected, Tyreke Evans may be in for a slightly longer stay in the Green Room than he initially planned. James Harden would be the likely choice at Minnesota at 5, while logic suggests that Stephen Curry would be a much better fit in the backcourt than Evans at #6.

Evans did not work out for Golden State at #7—they are leaning towards Jordan Hill anyway—which means he would probably land at #8, where the Knicks would happily snatch him up.

That would slide Jrue Holiday down a slot, and in turn bump off James Johnson, since he is supposedly slightly Holiday on Toronto’s board. After that, it’s anyone’s guess.

--------------------------
From ESPN Mock 7.0:
8. New York: James Harden

Confidence level: 80 percent

Analysis: The Knicks will be disappointed if Curry, Rubio, Hill and Evans are all off the board. But they'll still be relieved to find Harden here. The Knicks believe the draft is seven players deep and Harden is one of those seven.

If Harden is snatched up by the Thunder or the Timberwolves, they look at Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings, DeMar DeRozan and Gerald Henderson. I think they will prioritize point guard and Holiday has a very slim lead over Jennings.

IMO, we could get lucky and someone is liable to drop in our lap that wasn't expected to be available.

I can see Evans falling no later than 8. Harden won't last past 5-6.

Just read this a minute ago:

Conventional wisdom would have said Tyreke Evans as of yesterday afternoon. But according to the NY Daily News, the Knicks would actually take 6-5 SG/SF Gerald Henderson over ‘Reke.

If Golden State wants Jordan Hill, he will be available at #9. Why can't the Raptors throw the #9, 3 million cash, and rights to Ukic or Humphries. GS still gets their guy, gets Cash, and gets a player that fills their need.

Because the Knicks will take Hill if he's there at 8.

And if Ukic or Humphries don't fill a role here, how do they fill a role in GS?

Knicks looking for a point guard to run the D'Antoni show. They had multiple workouts with Fylnn & Holiday. Move ahead of the Knicks if Tyreke Evans & Harden falls.

And if Lee moves to another team, then they have a hole to fill. If Hill is there at 8, the Knicks will take him.

Hey, I could say the same thing about Nate Robinson leaving via free agency. D"Antoni loves his point guard. With Nash, D'Antoni would give him the ball and let him create. The greater emphasis would be the point guard in a D'Antoni runned offense, which can explain the multiple workouts with Flynn and Holiday.

The difference here is that Lee started. Robinson was a 6th man.

Nate wasn't a creator. He played as a 2-guard. Duhon ran the point primarily.
In the lottery, it's all about BPA, and for the Knicks, it would be Hill over Holiday or Flynn.

Sorry dude, even before the draft started the Knicks were dying for Stephon Curry. When Stephon Curry became out of their reach, the Knicks suddenly are conducting second workouts for Flynn and Holiday. The Knicks don't have much confidence on Duhon after his play faded at the end of the last season. Also, do you think the Knicks would let Duhon be the starting point guard on D'Antoni runned Offense. Duhon is a band-aid, just like he was in Chicago, before they get a legit point guard to run the show.
