OK, what about our home record, and finishing 3rd in the Conference overall. I guess none of it is on Mitchell at all then.

I don't credit that division championship to Smitch's coaching prowess, AS MUCH as I do to how dreadful the Eastern Conference was back then.

Smitch did a fine job, but, personally, I won't remember that team for being great, but rather for being good in a terrible conference.

Mehh, to have 9-10 new players, a couple rookies, euros with no NBA experience playing, and having only won 27 the season before in the same shitty Conference. I give Sam more credit then most. That isn't an easy situation to coach in to say the least.
