Red face Doc Rivers: 9-10 teams think they can win title

Quote:
Celtics coach Doc Rivers believes that we will enter the 2009-10 season with nine or ten legitimate title contenders.

"Nine or 10 teams think they can win the championship next year, and you can see by the moves," Rivers told the Boston Globe.

Rivers cited the reduction in the NBA's salary cap and the unwillingness of two-thirds of the league to spend.

"Because of the economy, 20 or 21 feel they can't. A group of nine looked at the Finals last year and said, 'We can do this,' and they are going for it," Rivers added.
Since we've made the most moves, can he be putting us on that list?...... Nahhhhhh!

I doubt it, let the team's production force him to put them on that list.

doc should stick to coaching, not that he's particularly good at that either ...
despite the rumours, very few teams have shaved money this summer ...

shaving money isn't incredibly easy, especially when most teams would like to do so

How many teams are investing heavily in their futures? Not many.

I think Cleveland and Boston teams are very 'fragile'. They could collapse easily if one of their players fall or 'something' happens (wait for Shaq and Rasheed). If Boston underachieves we'll come at top in the division which means top three seed in the conference. Then we can target the Eastern conference title. Wishful thinking?

Boston will still be deadly, remember the reason they didn't overachieve at playoffs last year was because KG was out. With a healthy Garnett and the addition of Wallace I think they can play amazing. I don't know what to expect from the Cavs this season after they cracked in the Eastern Conference finals to the Magic last playoffs. Will the addition of Shaq bring that much to the table? Orlando I think will play well, but I don't know if the addition of Vince is good or bad for the team. I think we will do MUCH better this season, maybe not title or even conference contending, but we will make the playoffs as a 4th or 5th seed.

I expect the Lakers and Spurs to be amazing of course. Other than that, Denver seems like they will perform well again, I love their squad. Rockets are out of the mix, their team is falling apart with injuries and trades. The Mavericks seem to be lining a good squad up, I expect to see some good play from them.

Cleveland imo took a step back- Shaq/Moon/AP

Boston on the other hand: Wallace/Daniels/Healthy KG

There's nothing wrong with having AP as a SG coming off of the bench, he just isn't starter material.

I agree. But imo Shaq is gonna kill that team and well.........Moon??

They'll still win 50-55gms but i don't think they're any better, and without LBJ they are worse then we are imo.

Well of course we would be better than them, Lebron is their centerpiece for everything. I don't know about the Shaq experiment, and signing Moon was probably a bad move on their part.
