Question Do you want Bryan Colangelo back next season?

I know there is a lot of speculation about his future here in Toronto right now, and I just wanted to get the view of the members here at RF.

Do you want to see Bryan Colangelo back next season (whenever that is) as the president and general manager of the Raptors?

I want him to finish what he started.. after all he did draft Ed Davis, Bargnanni and Derozan.. and got Bayless and James Johnson

people may knock Bargs.. even I do, but there wasn't any other stand out players in his draft class.. Roy bad knees, and Rudy gay max contract?

but yea, I want him to finish what he started, hopefully he realizes that this team does not need Bargs

I like how aggressive he is as a GM.. Colangelo makes off seasons in Raptors land fun..

There should be another option:

"Yes, only if he trades Bargnani"

That will get alot of Votes.

That would definitely be my preference, lol. But its yes or no, if you vote yes, you should just hope he realizes that Bargnani must be traded for the positive development of the team.

Let him finish what he started, his drafting has worked out for him, minus maybe bargs, and I would like to see what he does this off season and how he assembles this team. He did make Bargs on the market, maybe he's realizing he's not a good fit for our team moving forward.

This ^ is exactly how I feel.

He drafted Bargnani, and I dont blame him for that, but he he has to realize that its time to move on from Andrea and get the most you can out of him in a trade.

If we're basing it on what he has accomplished in the last 5 years then i don't think one can dispute that he has failed.

But i'm a pretty leaniant and loyal guy so i'll stick with him. I'll take him back, but not so much to finish what he started... more like start over. This season has kind of been a case of starting over, so fine. He has my vote of confidence to fix his mistakes.

Also i don't have faith in ML$E to bring in anyone better.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest.

One side of me says, well, he operates here in Canada which is at a disadvantage as a market (and this is true regardless of what we as homers think).

He's made some clever trades, firstly bringing Turkoglu in and gaining the MLE, grabbing Amir, grabbing Bayless, grabbing Hump for Haffa etc.

Also we seem to have some basketball IQ at the top levels with Maurizio, the departed Ujiri (sp?) and the scouting department.

Then he's struck out with his handling of a departing Bosh. Not the idea of trading him, but really tarring and feathering him and making it public.

Not dealing with the PG controversy quickly which seemed to have some locker room implications as well.

Not keeping things 'in house' if you will. Too many leaks that seemed to have hurt this team in a public image kind of way (or had).

And really, handing out FA's bad contracts, Kapono, Fred Jones coming top of mind. I know he made a play for Salmons, but Kapono instead of Pietrus still kinda bugs me.

Also his lack of really committing to one plan until having been forced to but the youth is looking good.

One part of me, is saying, well, it was 5 years and really, it's been a disappointment and a failure to this point. Little playoff success and poor spending of money. But...

I think what I do here is re-sign BC as ONLY the GM and not the President of the club and provide a leash if you will (Donnie Walsh may be available) and only have 3 years instead of 5. Eight years is long enough imo.

I too am on the fence and would like to see that option.

He drives me crazy but I think his recent moves have been ok. If you include the move he tried to make at the start of the year that Jordan screwed him on, it would have been even better.

I'm on the fence too, and more concerned about the ownership at this point. If he stays there are positives. If he goes, it had better be to allow new owners to bring in someone that has a shot at getting the job done.

The first bad thing to happen after BC was hired was overachieving in his first season and getting everyone to over value the players right off the bat including him. Then the following we took a step back to a level closer to where we should have been the first season. From that point on it seemed to throw everything out of wack compared to what moves would have been done if we were still a lottery team in 06-07. That plus this market is difficult on a good day to build. If he's not back next season, who would be hired? Will it be a Babcock type, or will they get Pritchard or at least someone who is capable. This market is nearly impossible to do much for an inexperienced executive.

I worry that they'd bring in someone shitty. We can't deal with more "shitty".

i never wanted him here, but since he's basically our only identity right now, it'll be tough letting him go.

i'm sure with our current pieces and the price tag that colangelo comes with, it would make it somewhat attractive for up-and-coming gm's and veteran gm's looking for a new stomping ground. anyone here like donny walsh?

BC's pricetag should definitely be considered here.... I was never really sold on him either... just seemed like far too much of a "politician" for me. And his "PHX East" fixation, drafting of Bargs and mis-handling of Bosh all but sealed it for me.

I'd certainly be willing to consider Walsh (or anyone else with some decent credentials).

If we have an idea on a good replacement then sure. If it's bringing in a guy with no experience for a bargain price for MLSE then no.

BC makes for an entertaining gm, always retweaking the roster through trades and signings rather than sitting back. usually makes for an exciting summer.

he clearly trys hard. however, the results havent been there. aside from the 06/07 surprise, he hasnt been able to sign a significant player or improve the team. his trades have been mixed (some good - reggie trade, some bad - j oneal trade).

so ya i would like to have him back, but wouldnt necessarily be heart broken if he wasnt resigned....

it would weird if BC didn't get signed back,

dont think I would like hte direction of hte team under new leadership, who obviously would be a rookie G.M because MLSE is to cheap,

I would prefer MLSE to re-up BC and let him finish the rebuild, the guy did build one of the best teams we've seen this past decade, the run and gun suns, who are more memorable than previous champions, and could have been a champion if it wasn't for injuries and bad decisions by players, and David Stern

with Lottery picks he is knocking htem out of hte park, Bargnani, Derozan, and Davis, all turned about to be top 5 or 6 players in there draft class

another huge reason why we should bring him back, he never got to hire his own coach yet, Sam Mitchell and Triano were both here before BC time, I would at least like to see him hire a new coach,

also MLSE wanting BC to build around Bosh which was a failed experiment from the beginning, BC managed to get this team in the playoffs twice under Bosh, which is starting to look better considering how he looks with the Miami Heat right now with two of the best players in the gamea Wade and Lebron,

we would have been in the playoffs last year if Turk cared enough, and if Bosh made a damn layup

This logic makes little sense to me. Our GM at the time was Rob Babcock, why at that time would you not want Colangelo here?

And your logic is bullet proof. Clearly the choice was Babcock or Colangelo. There were no other options whatsoever.
